If you're like me and think you're an expert at fantasy football (Defending champ in my family league, no big deal), you'll likely also enjoy playing weekly fantasy football on one of several daily fantasy sports sites.

For my intents and purposes, I'm just going to focus on DraftKings.com because I've played on them all and I like DraftKings the best.

The concept behind these websites is simple. Rather than draft a team to participate in a season long league, you select can select a new team every day (or every week in football). Also, there is no "draft" but rather a salary cap you're given to work with and a list of all the players from each position and team and their assigned price values. You construct a team you like in an effort to maximize the value of your budget. It can take as little or as long as you like to pick and submit a lineup.

DraftKings runs many different contests each weekend for football with entry fees for each contest varying from 25 cents up to all the way up to $530 for all the high rollers out there. (There are also free contests available). Personally, I typically go for the $1, $2, and $5 entry fee contests that allow for multiple lineup entries. The grand prize for those contests is usually somewhere between $1000 and $2000. Also, this isn't a winner take all deal. The way it usually breaks down is about 20% of the total lineups submitted into each contest will get a cut of the prize pool.

I've been playing on DraftKings for baseball and football over a year now and I absolutely enjoy the challenge of researching and analyzing matchups and trying to find that lineup that could give a potentially big payday.

It's not easy, but its a much better way to spend money than, say, buying a lottery scratch-off where its just pure chance and you have no control over the outcome. I highly recommend giving it the old college try if you're an avid fantasy football player like I am.

If you're interested in signing up, click this link. Right now, DraftKings is running a promotion where they will give new players a free entry into a Fantasy Million qualifier event with their first deposit, plus they will match whatever dollar amount you deposit. So, if you deposit $5, they will give you a free entry ticket plus a $5 dollar bonus.

The Fantasy Million qualifier event is a contest where the top scoring lineup submitted will receive a free entry ticket ($1500 value) into the Fantasy Million on December 23rd. The Fantasy Million will be the largest fantasy football contest in daily fantasy sports history when it takes place. A total of 3.1 million dollars will be dispersed to the upper percentile scoring lineups in that contest including a 1 million dollar top prize to the lucky yahoo that finishes in first.

Thanks to anyone who took the time to read all of this. If there's anything more you'd like to know about daily fantasy football or DraftKings you can email me at [email protected]
