At what point does Chris say, “OK, I’m done.” Can’t be good for ones ego to get shelled in A ball and short season ball.
I never had friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?

I think hanging them up, unless your name is Rasmus, is the toughest decision for most players.  They have been playing the game, since they were 5 or 6.   I am sure Chris goes to the mound every game thinking things are going to be better.   As for the Orioles, they should move on.

Uh, they should have moved on at some point last year. Sounds like they're having as much trouble moving on from Tillman as Tillman is having moving on from baseball.

That is what I meant about not sure what the Orioles were waiting for.

I really think Chris was around option number 8 this year.   They struck out on signing or trading for many pitchers, and talked themselves into thinking Chris was healthier and ready to contribute.

Lets be a bit real here. His career earnings are over $25M. He doesn't ever have to work another day in his life and can have more money in retirement than us regular working stiffs who worked for 40 years. Sure its hard on a players ego when they have to hang it up when they have been doing this for a long time. But it shouldn't be that hard for a guy like Chris who has big interests outside baseball.

Give me a call Chris. I'd be happy to take you fly fishing for redfish or to go chase some mallards!!  And I would really do this!

My guess is about the time he reaches the time limit on his rehab assignment, and the O's want him to stay in the minors.  But on the other hand, his bulldog mentality is one of the reasons he was a good pitcher in the first place, so it seems kind of unrealistic to expect that to go away now.

I can't tell Chris when it's time for him to stop trying, as long as someone is willing to pay him and he wants to keep going, it's not for me to tell him to stop.  And if he still wants to keep going even after the MLB teams stop giving him chances, go ahead and play independent or club or whatever.

But I can tell the O's when it's time for them to stop letting him try for them.  And it's been that time since the middle of last season.

Cashner receiving an injection in his neck. If he can’t start on Sunday, Tillman might fill that start. Buck said cashner’s had injection in the past around the break. Tillman currently slated for final rehab start with Norfolk on Sunday. Saturday starter tbd. #orioles

Frederick Post article on Tillman's last start.  Sounds like he was using major league balls.

NFW Tillman should make that start or any start, ever again.

If you wanna waste innings on him in the minors as a feel good, fine. But he should never sniff the majors ever again unless he’s going 8 IP and striking out 10 plus in regular MiL games.

1) Finally!

2) Absolutely.  To this day, I will never understand how Tillman was a successful ML pitcher but he was very important to this team from 2012-2016.  We should always look at him fondly.  Those shoulder injuries are a bitch man...just can't come back from them.

Thanks for the memories, Chris. He was as big of a part of our success in recent years as anyone else. The one consistent bright spot in the rotation.

Damn shoulder injuries.

Glad they made this move.

And like others are saying, Chris had a good career here and I appreciate what he contributed to the best O's run of my adult life.

More

#orioles have offered Chris Tillman a chance to stay in organization and pitch at AAA Norfolk. He's deciding whether to become a free agent or accept the offer. His rehab assignment was up and team had to put on him active roster or DFA

Good luck Chris with whatever you decide. But I think your time as an MLB pitcher has come and gone.
