He's already a sports icon. He's also the best post Jordan NBA player. Your reaction to the hype is on you, not on the media or Lebron himself.

Ridiculous.

Matt Wieters is by far more disappointing compared to his hype. :( If it's even fair to say James is disappointing.

He may go down as the second best player of all time. But he's overrated. Laughable.

Weber is the one that said he might be done being the best player in the league. He's not even 30. if his career plateaus and he doesnt win another title as the man, hes gonna lose some luster. Jordan was clearly the man in the league at 34 and 35, let alone 30.

He is 30. It could also be argued that LeBron was clearly the man at an earlier age than Jordan was and has played way more minutes by age 30 than MJ did, but again, James doesn't have to measure up to Jordan. Being a top 5 or so player of all time is pretty damn good.

Being Wilt Chamberlain is fine. It doesn't live up to the extraordinary hype though.

Why is he Wilt? And it does live up to the hype. How many super hyped athletes even come close to living up to it? Not that many. Again, Matt Wieters easily beats out LeBron in this category.

Being one of the Top 5-10 players ever already (with a chance to move up the list), does not live up to the hype?

I mean, I get the idea that you are saying that if he is now 'done' as a super elite that he won't equal Jordan... but... a Top 5-10 player ever is living up to the hype.

He changed his workout regimen this Summer... wonder how that has impacted him. I expect this rest will do him well, and he will be back at MVP level the remainder of the season.

Another 4-5 years at very high levels are what I expect.  Though I also expect he will have gradually reducing regular season numbers as he saves more in the tank for post-season runs.

We need to consider who we are debating with here.

They needed to do something like this with Varejao going down for the year. Suitable replacement.

Wilt Chamberlain is an all time NBA great. Hes not a transcendent athlete. How many kids today would know he he was??

How many kids in 50 years will know who LeBron is??

Kids still know who Babe Ruth is. Know who Ali is. Will still know about Jordan in 30 years.
