CBS Sports: Cleveland Cavaliers promote David Griffin to interim GM
http://www.cbssports...n-to-interim-gm
Cavs' owner Dan Gilbert recently mentioned how he would be involved with the trade deadline prior to Grant's firing. The thought process behind it was to make sure that Grant didn't mortgage the future of the club now in a possible attempt to save his job. Instead, it's assumed that Gilbert will aid Griffin in deciding which moves to make without necessarily giving away young assets or draft picks without getting an acceptable return.

Been watching the Cavs game on NBA TV tonight, Anthony Bennett looks legitimately good. 16 and 9 so far in 22 minutes.

Easily the most impressive thing we've seen on the court this season from the Cavs.

As Birds of B'more mentioned in the general thread, pretty crucial that the Cavs were able to get the extension with Irving done. Having had another pick at the top of the draft probably didn't hurt.

The question is this...Does Kyrie deserve a max deal? I think theres a case to be made that he doesn't because of injuries and a lack of defense.
Offensively, he is excellent and he is very young...plus, he means more to Cleveland than any other team.
Luckily for them, most of their roster is young and cheap, so they can do this but they need to add a vet talent..if they can draw one to Cle, which is difficult.

ESPN: Most GMs wouldn't trade Wiggins
http://insider.espn....dmanLoveWiggins
Jeff Goodman polled 12 NBA Executives.... 7 said they would not trade Wiggins for Love.
I could either way with that argument. Love in '14-'15, '15-'16 gives James/Cleveland a better chance to win. However, the comments in this article match my thoughts on Love... a bit overrated (A top 15 player, not a Top 7 player). Puts up huge numbers for a poor team (though I do respect the consistency in his efforts... his ability to rebound, score... great outlet passer)...
The Executives make great points about Love's pending contract, his defensive limitations... that you can have Wiggins cheap for sometime.
Do you think Cleveland can get Love for Bennett, Thompson, Waiters?

If I'm Minnesota, I continue to hold out for Wiggins with the expectation that Cleveland eventually gives in to the opportunity to put themselves in a better situation to win immediately. I don't necessarily get why the execs are bringing up Love's contract if the whole point is that they should try and use other players to get him instead of Wiggins....if you're worried about having his max deal (which he'll likely get) on the cap, then don't pursue Love at all and just hope that Wiggins develops quickly and the rest of the supporting cast makes an impact.
