Last 10: 8 for 36, .222, 3 doubles, 1 hr, 8 rbi, 8 bb's, 6 k's, 2 steals
Average stinks but love that his walks > strikeouts even when struggling.

Well I hear Linda Ronstadt is looking for a guitar player.

Thanks for posting this. Interesting look. I've heard other scouts are more sold on Delmonico's bat but it's always been a question what his final position on the diamond will be.

Well, let's see how his power develops. He is still extremely young.Delmonico came into the system with a reputation as being an advanced hitter for a HS player, so I'm not surprised to see the good plate discipline. However, for a player who figures to be a corner IF (most likely 1B) I don't see the power or overall hitting ability to get excited about. He's a decent prospect. Seems like people are trying to make hims something more than that. Some people equate him to Schoop, which I think is way out there.
He is on a 30+ doubles pace...good to see.

That's nice. Schoop played in the same league as a 19 year old all season and put up a .890 OPS, and he's a middle infielder. After 51 games last year, Schoop had 12 2B's, 3 3B's, and 8 HR's. After 65 games this year, Delmonico has 16 2B's, 0 3B's, and 6 homers. So Schoop put up as good, if not better power numbers, and just plain hit better overall. That doesn't mean Delmonico isn't a good prospect. I just don't see anything YET to get excited about, especially for a 1B.

Great season by Schoop...but he has been pretty poor this year. That's nice. Schoop played in the same league as a 19 year old all season and put up a .890 OPS, and he's a middle infielder. Of course, that has nothing to do with Delmonico and his power and development.

While some people say they aren't impressed, this is the kind of season I was hoping to see from him in a full season league. Yeah it'd be nice if he was crushing it, but I like the walks, the power is peeking through, and as he progresses he should cut down on the K's a bit. Was hoping he'd stay under 100 k for the season.

A higher BA is what I would like to see..in other words, better contact rates. While some people say they aren't impressed, this is the kind of season I was hoping to see from him in a full season league. I expected that a bit since he was a HS player last year. As he adjusts to the pros he'll start to learn where the strikezone is (he's getting that, the BB) and then he'll start to recognize pitches and learn to stop swinging at stuff in certain counts. I personally look for the contact rates to start trending up towards the end of that first full season and the first half of the 2nd season.

"Single-A Delmarva infielder Nicky Delmonico, the Orioles' sixth-round pick in 2011 and one of the organization's better hitting prospects, may be able to continue to play this year but is likely to need knee surgery at some point soon, possibly right after the season.
Delmonico first injured his knee on June 26 and re-injured it Wednesday night. He didn't play yesterday and may test the knee today to see if he can play with some discomfort for the rest of this season.
When he got hurt in late June, it was a medial meniscus injury, he had an MRI and missed about 10 days. Delmonico is batting .248 over 93 Shorebirds games with 22 doubles, 11 homers, 54 RBIs and an OPS of .763."

Unfortunate, but it would be best to shut him down now and get that knee repaired properly. Hopefully he'll be good to go and healthy for the full season next year.
