Or a trade candidate.
Yea, that is likely, but if it is another trade like Villar's, it is the same as dumping him.

I think they should trade him in the offseason to the Angels.
I don't have a goal of pounding every peg into a hole regardless of whether it fits or not.

He has to take advantage of the opportunities he gets. Pretty clearly Hyde values Severino's defense over his... which is saying something, because Severino isn't Pudge Rodriguez.
I think Sisco has the potential athleticism for 2nd somewhere.
I think if he has any Oriole future, it's him grabbing time behind the plate, and then potentially getting more time behind the plate than a normal backup with Rutschman... if they want to limit Rutschman's wear-and-tear.

I said awhile back in a thread that his defense isnt going to play at C in the bigs. Buck didn't want to use him back there and it's clear Hyde doesn't either. As you said, it's not like Severino is a stud with the leather. He needs to hit. IMO he's got more potential offensive upside than most of the players on the current roster. The Os dont want to completely give up on him at C but by doing that all they are doing is suppressing his ABs and any chance to get the bat going. He has to take advantage of the opportunities he gets. This is so well said.
I am not sure I buy that he is ever going to be anything offensively but this organization isn't giving him a chance to succeed.

Right. He is far from a sure thing but he deserves a chance to see if the tool that has carried him his whole pro career can play at the ML level. This is so well said.

Stick him at C and just roll with it. Give him a solid shot and see what happens.

I want to see his bat get a long chance. I really don't like the idea of him catching. He is just not very good back there. The truth is, is that it doesn't matter. This is a really bad ball club, so let's see if he can hit, if not adios.

So what happens with him over the winter.
2020 was an oddball season but a slash line of .214/.364/.741 isnt going to come close to cutting it especially if he can't defensively be a catcher. I am ready to move on although not opposed to having him start 2021 as a backup. But he's going to be 26 before ST starts. When do you look elsewhere?

When he hits arbitration.
I guess that makes sense unless the team begins to be competitive before then.

I think arbitration is right, but if it were me, I would move on now.

Don't adios. There's such a dramatic derth of catching talent around the majors. He just needs to be adequate defensively to have value, and he has made strides. What he really needs to do is stop looking at 3rd strikes and be more aggressive at the plate.

I tried not to maker any judgments On players this year, but the more I watch Chance catch, the more I think he should not catch our young pitchers.
