Baltimore Sun / CCT: To the DL
http://www.carrollco...0,7588308.story

... has been placed on the seven-day disabled list.

Catcher Chance Sisco, who was ranked by Baseball America as the Orioles’ fourth best prospect, suffered a small fracture to his right ring finger when he was attempting to throw out a potential basestealer and hit the opponent’s bat. Sisco was a 2013 second rounder.
The sense is he could be back once eligible to come off the disabled list.

Single-A Frederick catcher Chance Sisco has played three games in extended spring training and could return soon to the Keys. Out since April 25 when he went on the DL for the second time this season with a strained oblique, he had two hits in a game yesterday in Florida. The O's want him to get about 30 at-bats in Florida and see him catch several games before he returns to the Keys. The Orioles' No. 4 ranked prospect according to Baseball America, Sisco is batting .190 in eight Frederick game.

Sisco has really heated up. He needs to stay healthy, but we're talking about an 11/5 BB/K ratio right now for a guy playing his 20 year old season in high A. Up to a 809 OPS. Nice to see.

Quite easily our best offensive prospect.

I think Reyes is a better prospect.

It's a toss up, really.... I'll take Sisco since he's performing at a higher level. Really, though, you can't go wrong with either one.

Well Reyes has to get there...he's 2 years younger.

Right higher ceiling perhaps for Reyes, but Sisco has pretty much shown he knows what he's doing with the bat already.

Good years from Sisco and Reyes would really be good in terms of establishing this team's minors. Through in some development from some of this high upside bats in the lower level systems and the re-establishment of Harvey and were not a great in the minors, but you can see some progress.

Well, it would help the minors but they are both still a long way away from the majors.

I'm still worried that DD is going to trade one of them for a rental or minor upgrade.

I'm worried he'll deal this guys for too low of value too. On the other hand, he's never really dealt our best performers AND upside guys. EdRod was under performing. Hader had the stats but there were questions about his ceiling. The picks that got traded were undefined.

Hader maybe was the closest, but certainly wasn't the top tier guy. Reyes and Sisco are the only talent for the moment that we've got in the system. I think it's more more likely that we see Givens get traded.

But all that's a distraction from how good Sisco has been. It doesn't matter if he's far away. Talent is talent, and you can't be unhappy about the O's drafting and developing this guy so far. And you have to be somewhat optimistic about all the HS bats they are bringing in based on Reyes/Sisco development.

Considering the amount of turnover we'll likely have in the BP after this year, I hope we keep onto potential cheap BP power arms like Givens.

Chance Sisco, C, Orioles: One of the better young catching prospects in the minors, Sisco played just 11 games in April and May due to injury. On return, he hit .333/.398/.452 in 24 June games and has also been above .300 with his batting average on into July. He hasn’t shown much power early in his career but he has the frame to eventually slug home runs from the left side of the plate. Cisco, 20, also controls the strike zone well for his age and currently has a BB-K rate of 15-16 in 128 at-bats. Former No. 1 draft pick Matt Wieters never turned into the star player that was projected of him, in part due to injury, and Caleb Joseph is a modest offensive player at best. As a result, Sisco should be a welcomed sight at the big league level in 2017. [Value Up]

Have heard that there is little chance he is able to stay at C. Still, have to like the hit tool.

He may not.

But we also heard Schoop couldn't play second and that Joseph wasnt a good C.

I am willing to give the Os a benefit of the doubt that they will develop him defensively...somewhere.  They have proven they can do that.

Saw him play last night. They had him at DH.

Also pretty sure that was Surhoff I saw in the Frederick dugout.
