ESPN: Bill Self: Eventual NBA move possible

I used to have a different view on college coaches to the NBA. The thinking why would you ever want to leave when you are pretty successful for the uncertanity of the NBA. I don't expect someone like Coach K to leave at this point of his career, the Lakers almost a decade was the real "last shot." But someone like Self, I can see him thinking, "I've done all I can at Kansas, it's not really a challenge anymore, worse case scenario, the NBA doesn't work out, I can comeback." Save for national titles, which he has one, he's done just about everything -- winning 84% of his games and almost double digit Big 12 championships.

The one I can eventually see is Billy Donovan -- despite the Orlando Magic in then out -- he's still young enough. I think once his kids are older, he'd be more inclined to try the NBA again.

Xs and Os and in-game adjustments so much more important in the NBA. Part of the reason Calipari stunk.

There is baseball, and occasionally there are other things of note

"Now OPS sucks.  Got it."

"Making his own olive brine is peak Mackus."

"I'm too hungover to watch a loss." - McNulty

Calipari, Kruger, Tarkanian, Pitino, Hamilton, Floyd...etc have all failed miserably in the NBA. I don't know why most can't make that leap.

What Pedro said. Most of those guys are known as recruiters more than game coaches.

Guys like Floyd and Kruger though weren't known for recruiting as much as in game coaching..Leonard Hamilton too, forgot about him.
