Kawhi taking off tonight vs. Milwaukee for load management.

Love him as a player, but people want to see him vs. Giannis.  It's weak.

(And yes, I acknowledge that he can point to his rest and his title last year.)

As someone who has tickets for tonights game, yes. Totally weak.

Is it possible to eliminate back to back games in the NBA? Is that something that's ever been considered?

Was actually discussing this with my buddies who are big time NBA fans.  We all agree it sucks but the Clippers saw what Toronto did with him last year and obviously would like to emulate that.

I dunno.  If eliminating them meant eliminating "rest days" then I'd be all for it.  However, I imagine that they would start resting players after playing twice in three days or something.

Also, if you want to keep 81 games, you'd probably have to start the season around October 1.  That basically means that if a Finals series goes the distance you have a season that is almost 9 months long which is sort of absurd.

Can you be considered the best player in the game if you are a big wuss and need all these nights off?

The season should be shortened regardless of this problem, but this is another reason to support that.

Unequivocally not. Stop comparing him to MJ, it's preposterous.

I agree with this.

But they should still be able to play 70+ games if they stay healthy.

Heard on the radio that Jalen Rose suggested if you miss a game due to rest it counts as a game played for you with all 0s thus lowering your per game averages. Dunno if that would have any sort of impact but he is an ex player so...

I don’t think so, no.

It effects your numbers, which could effect money and long term records.

OTOH, the elite guys will get paid either way, so I don’t think it will matter to them.

Yea I meant players actually caring about this.

Oh..yea they don’t care.

They want this.

It’s actually pretty pathetic.

I’m not saying they should play every game but they should play at least 70 games if they are healthy.

They want to get paid 40M a year but miss 20+ games? Wtf? That’s horrible.

Also, it doesn't really make a lot of sense for people that boil a fair portion of their player analysis down to rings to have a problem with this. Save yourself for the playoffs and have the best chance at a title, right?

The analysis of rings boils down to discussion about the GOAT lists and how you rank them.

Rings matter in that discussion, especially amongst QBs and top NBA players.

However, the problem with what you are saying is that you are implying you need to rest to win a title. That’s bs. 10 times MJ played 80 or more games.

The best ability is availability and if you don’t make yourself available for 20-25% of the season because you are a baby who needs some rest, that’s pathetic...especially at the money they are making and the prices tickets cost.

Now, if you want to take pay cuts or take these guys out of the discussions as GOaTs, be my guest. Kwahi is a guy who doesn’t care about that and that’s fine. But stop with the MJ comparisons and while I think he is the best player in the world, he’s not the guy I’m taking to start a team if he feels he needs to sit out for that many games.

There is no justification for this. Load management 7 games into the season? Wtf?

By my count there are 12 back to backs all season and 10 more to go. So 12 total missed games. That's still a lot, but it's not 20+. I agree he should play but I think the fact that the two games he missed already were against playoff caliber teams draws extra attention.

That being said, this Clippers team is impressive and can really do some work, I think, when they get healthy.

Last night with no George and Leonard they really stuck with the Bucks. It was clear when Williams wasn't on the court that they had a hard time generating offense. But that will resolve pretty quickly for a team at full capacity. The score was tied with about 4:00 min left but they just defensively, without their big 2, couldn't stay in it.

He played 60 games last year. He will be in the 60-65 area in all likelihood.

Hopefully he only misses back to back games and plays 70...agreed, I'd still prefer to see him play 82. Even if he only played 20 minutes last night, the Clippers have a good crack at winning that game.

I also wonder when George is back, if they can ease those minutes some for both guys on both sides of the back to backs so they are both playing more.

I agree, it's weak that they're doing it, though. Just hoping it tones down some.
