I was more accurate with my Phelps BAC predication than nearly any MLB prediction this year

Have a few to celebrate your victory!  Just, you know, don't drive anywhere after.

Fixed the ESPN link:

He also generated negative attention in 2009, when a photo in a British newspaper showed him inhaling from a marijuana water-pipe.

C'mon ESPN, get all your facts straight.

Pretty amazing that it stood that long.  I've always been fascinated by the limits of the human body.  I suspect swimming records will continue to fall for some time now.  Track and Field though - I'm keeping an eye on Bolt's 9.58 in the 100m.  No one has really approached that in 14 years.  Maybe the most prestigious record in T&F - how long will it stand?

I saw that someone just set the world record in the women's mile at 4:07, which broke the previous record by like 5 seconds.  I wonder if we'll see a sub-4 minute mile in our lifetimes (we probably will).

Who knows for sure but I think that will be safe for a damn while. Any thoughts on why these womens records from the 80s and 90s have held up for so long. Men were cheating back then too and all of their records have fallen. Youd think the illegal drugs of today and the technology would still allow todays women to have beat those records by now

A lot of people think shoe technology has really changed running performance the past few years. Here's an article I read this week:

https://www.nytimes....s-training.html

I run, but I'm cheap and slow so don't have any opinion. And these are more longer distances (and the mile would probably qualify) and less like Bolt's races.

Nope, I have wondered that many times myself but have no real insight.  Pretty amazing the FloJo still holds the 100m record.

Just going off a search on wikipedia the womens 100, 200, 400, and 800 were all set in the 80s. Very interesting. I would imagine it has something to do with the drugs being somehow better despite being so old. Def interested to hear anyones opinion.
