It's a slow Friday at work and I'm a bit bored.

Let's go with the old "desert island" scenario.  You have a chance to have 5 songs to take with you for the rest of your life.  What would those songs be?  I'm guessing you'd probably want a little variety instead of just your top 5 songs.  Or maybe I'm just overthinking it.

My 5 (for now, this will likely change as I think about it more)

Don't Look Back in Anger - Oasis

Walk of Life - Dire Straits

Tuesday's Gone - Lynyrd Skynyrd

Twist and Shout - The Beatles

Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing (any version, easily my favorite hymn)

Modest Mouse - Heart Cooks Brain

Tom Waits - Warm Beer and Cold Women

Silver Jews - I'm Gonna Love The Hell Out Of You

The Smiths - Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now

Built to Spill - Else

This list is basically impossible for me. But those were the first 5 that popped off the top of my head.

I'll have to give more thought to this before I post my top 5, but Joseph Gordon-Levitt agrees with you about "Don't Look Back in Anger". I love me some JGL.

I don't do songs as much as I do whole albums, but, 5 songs:

1.  Bob Dylan - Like a Rolling Stone

2.  The Beatles - Side 2 of Abbey Road (it counts)

3.  Radiohead - Paranoid Android

4.  Bruce Springsteen - Jungleland

5.  The Rolling Stones - Sympathy for the Devil

That said, I'd probably get very bored just listening to these same 5 songs over and over again, which is why whole albums is a bettr bet.

Interestingly enough, two of my favorite bands ever (REM and The Hold Steady) aren't on this list...probably because I've always liked them more for their albums as a whole than their individual singles.

There is baseball, and occasionally there are other things of note

"Now OPS sucks.  Got it."

"Making his own olive brine is peak Mackus."

"I'm too hungover to watch a loss." - McNulty

Good stuff.  After seeing some of these I may need to reconsider some of my list.

Pedro, your dilemma is why I thought it would be interesting.  i'm more of an album guy as well.  And I have no doubt you'd get tired of the songs, which is why I said you probably want some variety in there.

One of my favorite artists in Johnny Cash, but I don't know that there's any one single song I'd put on my list.

Cash's rendition of Hurt was better then NiN's I could listen to that a lot and Folsom Prison blues could make my top 5 anytime.
