I'm surprised this hasn't been updated yet, or got it's own thread, but...

@ColemanESPN Just utterly sad news hearing that ESPN Dallas' Richard Durrett passed away today.  A good, good man who leaves behind a wife & 2 kids. :(

He was a pretty young guy...I wonder what happened? I know I read the Alex Rios column this afternoon.  Get on this, Madison!

@espn_macmahon We lost a great man today. My ESPN Dallas colleague Richard Durrett collapsed and died suddenly. He leaves behind a wife and 2 little kids.

I don't know what makes me more sad: this, or the fact that I looked it up and Dave's World still isn't streaming anywhere.

Great performer in concert...

Texas blues legend Johnny Winter, known for his lightning-fast blues guitar riffs, his striking long white hair and his collaborations with the likes of Jimi Hendrix and childhood hero Muddy Waters, has died. He was 70.

Winter was a leading light among the white blues guitar players, including Eric Clapton and the late Stevie Ray Vaughan, who followed in the footsteps of the earlier Chicago blues masters. Winter idolized Waters — and got a chance to produce some of the blues legend's more popular albums. Rolling Stone magazine named Winter one of the top 100 guitarists of all time.

His representative, Carla Parisi, confirmed Thursday that Winter died in a hotel room in Zurich a day earlier. The statement said his wife, family and bandmates were all saddened by the loss of one of the world's finest guitarists.

There was no immediate word on the cause of death.

James Garner had a way of widening his eyes while the corner of his mouth sagged ever so slightly. Maybe he would swallow once to further make his point.

This portrait of fleeting disquiet could be understood, and identified with, by every member of the audience. Never mind Garner was tall, brawny and, well, movie-star handsome. The persona he perfected was never less than manly, good with his dukes and charming to the ladies, but his heroics were kept human-scale thanks to his gift for the comic turn. He was one of the people.

Why did I think he was dead a few years ago?

He was great in Maverick.
