He'll obviously and deservedly be most remembered for his shows and his role in Elf for a different generation, but I always think of a random sketch he did on Mad TV that is among the very funniest things I've ever seen.

He was one of the best when it came to deadpan delivery. And instead of trying to overcome a stammer that some may have considered too big an impediment for such speaking roles, he managed to make it part of his persona.

Bob Newhart was one of the funniest guys that I have ever seen. His old sitcom with Suzanne Pleshette as his wife was an underrated classic sitcom. RIP funnyman.

Chi Chi Rodriguez, 88. One of golf's great ambassadors of the sport.

His toreador dance after he would birdie or eagle a hole made for great theater.

What I remember most about him is Les Nessman butchering his name on an episode of WKRP.

Former NFL running back Duane Thomas, 77. The guy could certainly play, but he also had a chip on his shoulder the size of Texas Stadium.

I loved watching that guy pitch when I was a kid.
