Man that sucks.

Wrote Animal House and directed Caddy Shack.  Dude had chops, I think he was underrated as a comic since he always played the straight man like Egon (or Ziskey in Stripes, a personal favorite).

He always seemed to pop up in smaller roles, too. Like Seth Rogan's dad in Knocked Up; that was perfect casting.

My little four year old nephew watches Ghostbusters just about every day, so Egon is fresh on my mind.  RIP :(

Also the Dean of Admissions in Orange County.

Ramis was a good one.

It blows my mind the amount of people that associate Ramis with Egon first, either on Facebook or twitter, etc.

This is the guy that gave us, or had a hand in giving us Animal House, Caddyshack, Vacation and Groundhog Day!

Because, like anyone else in visual media, he's best known for on-screen work. But you're right, he's part of the source material for a significant portion of American popular culture over the past 35 years.

I'll always remember him first for making a toaster dance.

R.I.P. Harold Ramis. Your portrayal of Egon Spengler was one of my first nerd heroes. http://abcnews.go.co...ory?id=22651174

Four of the best comedies of all time. Three of them are on my top 100!

Is Animal House the one that misses your 100? That's the one I'm most likely to pass by. Not as consistent.
It better not be Caddyshack or Groundhog Day.

Animal House is indeed the one. It's a touch below the other three but still great.

Absolutely loved Harold Ramis. A great sense of humor. For those who don't know who he is look up his IMDB page. http://www.imdb.com/...1/?ref_=nv_sr_1

He was a part of some of the funniest movies of all time. Loved him as Russell Ziskey in Stripes.

Couple good articles on Grantland about Ramis-

http://grantland.com...g-harold-ramis/

"It’s a thankless job. Normal People never get any credit, ever, because Normal People are not flashy; by definition, they have to be normal while everyone else gets to run around and have fun. Normal People don’t get nominated for Emmys, or have BuzzFeed lists made of their funniest quotes. The joints are not the part of that beautiful antique dining room table you admire, even though without them, the table is a big pile of wood scraps."

http://grantland.com...f-harold-ramis/

"That was the democratic brilliance of Harold Ramis: He made adults feel young and kids feel wise."

Guitarist Paco de Lucia has died in Cancun at 66, apparently of a heart attack. Damn it.

Now I feel bad that the President canned him in the aftermath of the alien attack. He was incompetent, but he was simply doing his job as Secretary of Defense.
