Since the PA Brewery thread was so popular!
I gotta tell you, this one is tough for me...
Flying Dog has some kick ass beers, but they also make a lot of beers that I don't like.
Heavy Seas is good as well, but their top tier beers aren't on the same level for me as Flying Dog.
DuClaw is good, but only a few standout for me.
Evolution has the wonderful Migration Series, and Lot 6 is a good IPA, but that's about it.
VERY curious to hear everyone's thoughts on this.

I LOVE Flying Dog. Toured their brewery as well, which was great, they really go out of their way to get you drunk there, which is awesome, and I love the atmosphere. They're a definitive #1 for me. Duclaw 2nd, Heavy Seas 3rd.
Brewer's Alley would come in 4th for me, though I probably drink their beer the 2nd most out of the 4 I mentioned (Flying Dog the most obviously). I really like their IPA, Nut Brown Ale and Oatmeal Stout brews.

Union. My new favorite brewery from anywhere, I think. Their barleyweisse is the best berlinerweisse/spinoff I've ever had. Great summer beer. Their duckpin is a top-notch pale ale, and they debuted an oatmeal stout called Snow Pants recently (at the brewery) that was incredible. I also really enjoy the brewery itself - it's extremely unassuming. Just a tiny taproom plus a stack of plastic lawn chairs outside. People post up on the parking lot and drink and socialize. Everyone from Union was very friendly. One of the brewers was there with his wife and infant son just drinking with the rest of us. Good times.

Union is definitely a sleeper in MD. I have been getting them occasionally if I see them when I am out at a bar. Columbia Ale house had duckpin on tap, absolutely delicious.
The worst beer I have ever had is from Flying Dog actually: http://beeradvocate....rofile/68/91320
Those people rating that beer to give it an 86 must be absolutely insane. This was HORRIBLE.
But they also have the bourbon barrled Gonzo, and a few other amazing beers that really stand out to me.
The Migration Series by Evo should not be underrated. If anyone ever wants to try this and couldn't get around to it....well...I have like 6 bottles of the Whiskey Barrel Dark Ale still. I only have one left of the Chardonnay Barreled and the Rum Barreled Golden Ale (which is brand new!)

I've heard some good things about Union, I have yet to try any of their beers though. With them being so new and with just a few offerings no way I could put them at the top of my list.
Not my final list yet, but I would probably put Evo at #1 (Evo reminds me of what clipper city use to be before they got too big), their Rise up Stout is one of my favorite beers out there! Other faves include their Lucky 7 Porter and their ESB. Both of their IPA's are good as well. Something that I haven't had yet but hope to pick up this fall is their Jacque Au Lantern. Tucker is spot on with their migration series, the beers they've put in their Menegaries series have been great as well.
It's probably a toss up between FLying Dog and Clipper City for 2
After that I'd go with Duclaw. Other MD breweries that are mentioned and deserve a shout out are Pratt Street Ale House and Red Brick Station up in White Marsh.

I've been speaking to a number of these breweries about being a sponsor, so I'm going to avoid saying which overall I personally like best.
However, I will say that local beer has come a long way. Some really good ones out there.
Ellicott Mills does have good beers. Agree with DuffMan about Red Brick Station as well.
Union's Duck Pin Pale Ale is excellent.

Pretty much agree on this. I like FD but I have to be in the mood for a lot if their beers. They don't have a go to like HS has for me, like Gold or Marzen. I like Underdog and FD Pale, but HS has the better go-to's for me.
FD is definitely the cooler of the two though. Pirates are so 2004.

I guess for me I've always had a hard time thinking of Flying Dog as a "Maryland" Brewery, since they started out in Colarado.

Heavy Seas. Loose Cannon and Small Craft are one I usually by consistently. Below Decks Barleywine, Winter Storm, and Prosit are great too. I'm also a fan of Brewer's Art. Resurrection is a beer that only gets smoother for me the more I drink of it. It also gets me trouble with that high alcohol content too.
Union is great. I've been drinking Duckpin most of the summer and also enjoy their alt bier.

Yea Stillwater isn't exactly a brewery, more like a dude who collaborates with breweries across the globe. His stuff is expensive as balls, but, I think he's making the best and most interesting beer out there.
Stateside Saison, A Saison Darkly, and Of Love and Regret are some of my faves.

Yea Stillwater isn't exactly a brewery, more like a dude who collaborates with breweries across the globe. His stuff is expensive as balls, but, I think he's making the best and most interesting beer out there.
