If the O's will bid on Cuddyer, why not Beltran?

The rumors of the O's being interested in Cuddyer remain. To sign him, it will take at-least 3 years, and could be 4 to get him to Baltimore. While I like Cuddyer as a player, it would be hard to advocate a 3 or 4 year deal for him.

If the O's were willing to offer Cuddyer that type of deal, I would prefer that money be used towards Cespedes.

However, what Cespedes will provide is a question. If the O's decide to pursue Cuddyer, it is mostly a short-sighted attempt to get some level of 'guaranteed' performance (at-least in 2012).

My question is, if the O's decide they want another veteran presence in the lineup - and do offer Cuddyer 3 or 4 years, would you rather see the O's bid on Beltran?

Beltran will be 35 in April. The RH hitter played in 142 games in 2011, and had 67 xbh's. His OPS was .910 (.857 for his career), and his wOBA was .389 (.372 career). His UZR/150 was -9.2. In '09, and '10, Beltran played in a combined 145 games. My guess is that the O's would give Beltran a few starts in LF, but would regularly keep him at DH to try and protect his legs.

Cuddyer will be 33 in March. The RH hitter played 139 games in 2011, and had 51 xbh's. His OPS was .805 (.794 career), and his wOBA was .354 (.345 career). He is more versatile than Beltran, having played 352.2 innings at 1st (6.4 UZR/150), 140 innings at 2nd (-20.8 UZR / 150), 639.1 innings in RF (0.1 UZR/150). If the O's signed him, I could see him starting in LF, with Reimold moved to DH.

I know that selecting either is not attractive to many of you, but gun to your head, which would you rather have?
