A couple summers ago I was there when the water got cleared because a large shark was swimming along the shore pretty close. It was pretty crazy, crowds of people walking along the beach following it.

I believe that actually happened a week ago with a hammerhead.

Doesn't bother me. I know they're out there, but I don't let it keep me from getting in.

Funny you should post that, because my nickname is actually Lieutenant "Peg Leg" Dan.

I have swam with sharks before.  They are pretty gentle creatures for the most part...but they will tear your ass up if they feel threatened.

I wouldn't want to swim in the ocean with one just sitting next to me because they aren't used to it like when I swam with them before but its not causing me to stay out of the water and i don't think they should be killed because they are dangerous.

It will just make me more aware of my surroundings, thats all.

Michael and I checked out Ropewalk and it's a pretty cool place. Really cool vibe. They had live steel pan drummers. Would def go back.

They are all over in the OBX, because of all the killer fishing down there they follow the fish closer to the shore and piers. At any given time down there there is probably one within 20 yards of you, you just need to be aware and watch out for the schools of fish that creep in too far.

Get it son! Just came back from Ropewalk. Awesome spot. Hard to believe it used to be a blue hair restaurant.

I never had friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?

How so?

My experience has always been that there's aaaallllllllllllll sorts of characters on the boardwalk.  Just seems like a strange spot to feel out of place.

The boardwalk mostly consists of teenagers and families. Not much else at all.

Reading through this has me yearning for warmer weather (since the wind chill is probably close to zero as I type this).

Nice thread.

Saw a pic of the line to get into Seacrets yesterday. Why you would stand in that line is beyond me.

That place sucks. Any place that makes you take off your hat, that isn't a fancy restaurant, sucks.
