I made Carolina-style pulled pork tonight. It was ridiculously good.

Mission will be in the portion of Annapolis Towne Centre that's starting construction. May be open by fall of 2014.

Just opened a couple weeks ago at Canton Crossing.

Brisket was dry the time I went, but it was really good when I had it from the Glen Burnie store, so I'm sure that was just a function of it being the 2nd day they were open rather than something I'm worried about continuing.  Tried the ribs and turkey for the first time.  Ribs were decent, but don't match up to a place that really does ribs and only ribs.  Turkey I enjoyed.

Glad to finally have some BBQ close to my house, even if it's not the world's best.  Certainly solid enough to eat a couple times a month.

I'm in town this weekend so I tried this place today based on the recommendations of everyone here. Joppa road location. The people were ridiculously friendly in there. Like obnoxious Midwest friendly. The brisket was pretty solid. Good deal for 8 bucks.

Went to the Canton Crossing one. Thought the pulled pork was top notch! French fries have good seasoning on them. Was less impressed with the brisket, but still enjoyed it.

In line at Franklin BBQ in Austin. 3.5 hours in, supposedly another 2+ to go. They just handed out free sausage rolls, though.

We just got one five minutes from my house in little old York, PA.   I've been there three times, excellent every time.  I've had the brisket and got the ribs twice.

I wish they served beer.

And....

Oh right, I meant to post an update, but then we got our food and I completely forgot.

Without a doubt, the best BBQ I've ever had - we ordered brisket, sausage, and pork ribs, and they threw in a few slices of turkey just to be nice.  All were great.  I have no trouble believing that it's the best BBQ in the country.

The line, though...  we got in line at 8:30AM, and got our food at 2PM, so a 5.5 hour wait.  If you're in Austin and have the time, I would definitely recommend it, but if you're only in town for a day then I'd say go to someplace 90% as good with a minimal wait instead.

FYI - the people at the front of the line said they got there around 7:30, so apparently getting there early is key.  The place doesn't open until 11AM though.

They don't?  The Mission BBQ in Glen Burnie sells beer as well.

Forgot to post here.

I was in Austin for a bachelor party two weekends ago.  The 10 of us got up at 8am after drinking until...I don't know, it was late, and went and waited in line at Franklin's BBQ.  We got there by 9am, and the line was already down the block.  They told us the place opened at 11am, and we'd be getting meat around 1:30-2pm.  We stayed.  It was raining, and we needed beer, so we went to the CVS next door and bought a box of garbage bags to use as ponchos and two thirty packs (we'd have to go back for more twice).

We finally got food around 2pm.  It was, without question, the very best BBQ I've ever had, and maybe the best food I've ever had.  Makes Andy Nelson's look like Mission (and I love Andy Nelson's).  The brisket was incredible.  Absolutely fell apart in your mouth with tons of juice and flavor.  Their sausage was fantastic, the casings held in tons of juice, they'd squirt out when you bite into them.  Turkey was great, it had a really heavy, peppery rub before being smoked, and after slicing it they dipped it in some jus and the whole thing was delicious.  Pork ribs were really good, amazing rub, perfectly smoked.  I didn't use any of their sauces, just the meat.  Unfortunately they were out of beef ribs before we could be served.

If you like BBQ at all, don't be scared of the wait.  It's well worth it.

Was it that good, or was it the 12-18 beers you each drank over 5 hours? :P

I went to Urban BBQ over the weekend - they're opening a few area locations, and I went to the Linthicum one, near the intersection of 295 and Nursery Road.  Pretty decent BBQ - I don't think it was quite as good as Rub used to be, or as The Black Hog is, but I think it's a notch above Mission.

That's 5 minutes from my house and I've been meaning to check it out at some point.  How are the prices?

Prices weren't too bad, about the same as Mission, I think - a 2 meat plate was $12.99, and 1/2 slab of ribs + 1 meat was $18.99.  Plates came with 2 sides and cornbread, so it was a lot of food.  They had a special on Tuesdays where you could get a full slab of ribs, normally $22.99, for half price.

Dinosaur BBQ is opening in Fells Point next week.  I've never been there, but it's supposedly good.

Also, I don't know if I've mentioned the Smoking Swine food truck before, but I'm a fan.  I think they park in Fells Point a couple of times a week, and lately they've been by the fountains in McKeldin Square in the Inner Harbor on Fridays.

I went for a walk at lunch, and I happened to be near Dinosaur BBQ, so I figured I'd stop in and see if I could pick up a menu.  It turns out that I stumbled into a soft opening, so I ended up with a brisket sandwich, too.  Really good.
