Watched the 2nd episode tonight. Enjoying it; the plot moves very fast and I imagine I'll have to suspend a bit of disbelief at points, but seems like a winner. I get a kick out of his brothers and his right hand man.
I can't believe the right hand man is Manny from Scarface.

Have you been watching Breaking Bad? Steven Bauer pops up in later seasons of that show as well.

Really? I am up to date on that show...didn't realize he was on that.
Of course, I was shocked to know that was him on this show, so its not like I would have recognized him.

I watched it, I also liked it. Figuring out chars and the background stories is really tough when a series starts out but they seem to be doing a good job at it, bringing them along slowly.

Haven't finished the first episode yet. It's ok so far. Some pretty bad acting from the blond chick but I'm guessing she's not a recurring character. I like Schreiber in the lead role.
Her purpose isn't to be Meryl Streep.

I can already tell the wife is going to be a wet-blanket to the beyond obnoxious level.

Of course but it really took me out of it. There's alot of pretty faces in Hollywood, can't be that hard to find one that can at least act a little. Not the end of the world, just bugged me.Haven't finished the first episode yet. It's ok so far. Some pretty bad acting from the blond chick but I'm guessing she's not a recurring character. This show is really good but the wife might be the most annoying character on TV.
But she plays a great character IMO.
It really is a great show.

What issues do you have with Ray Donovan? Awesome show.
The characters make no sense. The brother who is a trainer - what was the point of his story with the wife? The other brother who got molested - how does nobody force him to get help? At some point somebody would have forced him to get help and with Ray's connections there is no reason he isn't seeing a shrink, psychologist, whatever. The wife is just ridiculous. You're married to someone and have known him most of your life but you have no idea what he does for a living? Not to mention she always does the opposite of what Ray says.
The worst of it all is that everyone other than Ray is blind to how much of a horrible father Mickey was. Everyone loves Mickey but they never give a reason why. It's always "he's changed". Yeah, how has he? They never give reasons as to how he changed they just always say that to Ray. From what I saw he's still a scumbag.

Well, some of that has been answered.
And it's not really that surprising the wife doesn't know exactly what he does for a living. He isn't doing things that you want to exactly broadcast..it means she can't be implicated in anything as well.
They explained that the wife has been corresponding with Mickey for a while, even when he was in prison. She likes him and his kids like him...he is grandpa that spends money on them.
His brothers are starting to see it from Rays pov.

Finally watched the premier. Looks like another good season coming. But if the season is all about Mickey and Ray and their relationship and Ray trying to send him back to prison it may end up becoming a tad stale towards the end. They need to insert some new plot lines, which, based on the previews after the episode, may be happening.
Ray's wife is annoying.
