Which is worse?

Oregon is 46-7 in the last four years with four straight BCS bowls and a title game appearance.
Which is worse? PEDs in baseball, or illegal recruitment in NCAA sports? Both can be considered "performance enhancing." Just one is individual and the other on a team level. Both issues seem to be overlooked at times in order to make the most profit for its league. Both also bring the integrity of the game In question.

If the NCAA's penalties for UO are any indication, then it's PEDs. Ducks got 3 years probation, lose 1 scholarship for 2 years, and Chip Kelly only needs to keep his Eagles gig for 2 seasons, with an 18 month show cause. No bowl ban. Ducks got off pretty easy. I am certain they will not be appealing this.

Its a joke how the NCAA handles their sentencing. Probation means nothing, and just 1 scholarship? Oregon must generate a ton of TV revenue since they score 50 points a game, and its "exciting" that way. This is a repeat offender as well. Found guilty of the same in 2004.

And it took 2 years of "investigating" to come to this conclusion. Part of me is glad that the Ducks won't have to suffer penalties committed by people no longer with the program, but the NCAA is just horrible with how they apparently play favorites. And it isn't just TV money Oregon generates that did some talking here (cough...Nike....cough).

Neither is correct IMO...PEDs are no biggie and the NCAA sucks ass.

Talk about an organization that needs a complete overhaul, from top to bottom. I actually considered pursuing a career in collegiate compliance at one point (and to be honest, would still take a job in that field, I just don't aggressively pursue it) but who in the hell would really want to try to work with this organization?

I don't personally think that PEDs are worse than breaking the rules in recruiting either. That said, I'm sure we can all agree that if a prominent college athlete were caught using them, the hypocritical NCAA would come down on that player with a fury seldom seen before.

I think most recruiting violations are complete jokes anyway. Most of the things universities are caught and penalized for are extremely putrid. An SMU type of situation doesn't happen that often (well, get caught that often), but the NCAA sure get's their jolly's off for sending an illegal text message, or for punishing Bill Self for hitting a scorers table. Freakin' joke.
