Bo Bichette to the Mets, 3 year deal.

3/$126M with opt outs after both years. Basically the same deal as Bregman got a year ago from Boston, little bit more money.

Bichette reportedly will third base for the Mets. Good luck with that.

He doesn't really play SS so why not?

Bichette doesn't project very well for any infield position except for second. Not a great athlete, either, and now he's going to have to learn a position he's never played professionally.

Not sure where Tor turns for more offense now.
If Tony can stay healthy, that will definitely help. They also signed Kazuma Okamoto, who had a string of 30 or more homers in six consecutive seasons in Japan.

Isn't $42M an overpay for Bichette?
Good news! I saw a dog today.

It's a much higher salary than expected for a much shorter time than expected plus with the added value to the player of the opt outs.
Same thing for Kyle Tucker and his $60M salary (maybe $57M NPV) but for only 4 years. No opt outs so even more salary, plus Tucker is a better player so higher starting point.
Not that predictions mean much, but MLBTR predicted 11/$400M for Tucker and 8/$208M for Bichette. Tucker took 36% of that length but 157% the salary and Bichette to 37.5% the length but 164% of the salary. Very similar to those expectations just a lot more money for a lot less time. Player still gets maybe half or so of the total dollars expected and gets a chance to end up ahead by returning to free agency at a reasonable age. Team gets to avoid a long-term commitment when deals often go south.

Peralta to the Mets. It looks like the Brewers got NY's #3 and #5 prospect
Good news! I saw a dog today.
