I think in many cases, it's just comes down to dumb luck with the way the ball bounces and getting the right calls on the 50/50 matchups. This is definitely something you can overanalyze. With the standard 32 points per round scoring and/or a large pool, you'll need to get the right champion anyways, it just comes down to taking some risks --picking a team like Memphis to reach the Final Four or having Manhattan beating Louisville. Those are things most don't do, but if you hit those kinds of things, you'll have a better shot. You pick KU to go all the way, they end up beating New Mexico in OT without Embiid then get him back and proceed to run the tables.
