One of the biggest reasons why Gary had to go. The ability to get most of the top talent in the area is crucial and will continue to be crucial to MDs success nationally.

If you could combine Turgeon's recruiting with Gary's in-game coaching I think you would have the perfect coach.  I am not a big fan of Turgeon's in-game coaching ability and I also think he is a bit too candid in the criticism of his players with the media.  I do think he will be a good coach for MD as long as he is here but he is not without his flaws.

Put it this way, he wouldn't have won the National Championship with the team that Gary won with, IMO.  Gary did as fine a coaching job with that team as I have ever seen.  I don't think Turgeon is that good of a coach.  However, he may not need to be because he should get far more talented players than Gary would normally.

Too early to judge Turge on his coaching. He came in with a good reputatuion as an in game coach. He had nothing his first year outside of Stoglin. This past year he had some pretty low IQ players. I think his frustration with that showed when he got a little to public with his criticism of those players. Not only low IQ but just not good shooters with no ball handlers. I actually saw the team start to get better looks progressively as the season went on but they just couldn't knock down open jump shots and sometimes missed bunnies right at the rim(cough Faust and Mitchell).

Perhaps and maybe that is a developed with age.  I am sure GW wasn't as good an in-game coach in the early part of his career but I do know that Gary was a field general who could get the most out of inferior talent.  The jury is still out on Turgeon being able to do the same.  But as I said, perhaps he won't have to be as good as a hall of famer because he should be able to pull in more talented players.

Maybe not, but Turgeon hasn't exactly had a backcourt the caliber of Dixon and Blake either to run the show for him. He has to get a good PG. Whether that means someone like Allen develops into one, or it's one of the other incoming players. But either way, it's all on Turgeon to make that happen.
