Harvey seemingly has good stuff, but he can't stay healthy and is arbitration eligible next year.
Harvey is not arbitration eligible.

Stating the obvious. They think hes more useless or hopeless than the others. Making this move now when there isnt currently a numbers crunch and there are other AAAA arms and bats that could easily be removed tells me just how far gone they think he is.
Absolutely everyone who is commenting on this has stated that this isn't a big deal. It's just odd to dump Harvey when there are 9 open roster spots plus multiple guys currently on the roster who seem even more hopeless or useless than Harvey.

Sure, but that evaluation is open to criticism. Especially when it's Harvey versus an empty roster spot with no current need to fill.

Harvey is not arbitration eligible.
He's at 2.047 years of service, so he would have (likely) been eligible in 2023.
The 2+ class for 2022 includes Martin, Hays, Mullins, Stewart, Tate, Sulser and Mateo (and formerly Harvey)...only Hays and Mullins make it to opening day 2023 (for more than 1M). ...and not that I think this will matter, but Kelvin Gutierrez is at 1.157, so if he played a full 2022 season, he'd be a Super-2 entering 2023.

I understand why its weird for some fans. Former 1st rounder who at one time looked to have a good future. Hard to forget that promise as an Os fan

He sure is.
Next year/ nextseason. ( Which is what I stated.)
Sorry, I assumed by next year you meant the next season to be played. During which he is not arbitration eligible. But yes, if he accrues about a half year next year (which is questionable) he would be arbitration eligible for 2023. I don't think that his current service time had much to do with the team's decision.

Ship has sailed in Baltimore.and likely everywhere else too. SF didn't even take a real look at him.

Harvey doesn't really bring anything to the table except a fastball that lacks serious movement. Then again, when you're constantly hurt, it's difficult to develop secondary pitches.
The Nats have claimed Hunter Harvey off waivers.
