Messi has 9 goals in 5 matches. Nobody else has more than 5. Guy is just a goal scoring machine. I got to see Pele in person (and that was a very special moment) and he was a freak. He was so ahead of his time. But he also played at a time when the overall players were not near the athletes that they are today. So you see the things that Messi and Ronaldo can do in today's game. Holy crap they are gifted players.

Appreciate the way you updated the Champions League...  I don't do a good job of staying up to-date there. This helped.

Like the idea of a Toronto / KC MLS Final... that would be fun.

Huge Bundesliga match later this morning. Too bad there are so many good college football games today, a lot of folks will overlook this match.  But at 1:30 EDT Dortmund is hosting Bayern Munich and its on FS2.

Well that game was hardly worth watching. Well unless you are a Bayern fan. Smoked them. 3-1. Dortmund did some good things in the final third but just never found that one last right ball. Horrible showing for the home club.

Today, the 6th of February, marks 60 years since the Munich Air Disaster, in which a chartered plane carrying Manchester United players and staff, journalists, and others, crashed after a refueling stop at Munich-Riem airport, on a third takeoff attempt in snowy weather. The previous day, United had drawn 3-3 on the road to Red Star Belgrade in the quarterfinals of the 1957/58 European Cup, advancing to the semifinals 5-4 on aggregate, and were on the way back to Manchester. Twenty people lost their lives at the scene, and the death toll would ultimately reach 23, including eight of the "Busby Babes," three club staff, eight journalists, and the plane's co-pilot.

Ken Ramsden, former longtime United staff member, recalls the disaster and other aspects of the period: http://www.bbc.com/s...otball/42845471

Hey y'all Ive written an overview of the other four big Euro leagues and we can discuss them here. Wanted to keep it separate from the EPL discussion since it gets way more press.

Watching the Dortmund -Leipzig match and what a show. Leipzig came out smoking and scored in like 40 seconds and then had a great chance a couple of minutes later and it was looking like another one of those Dortmund flop games.

Then they woke up. And scored to tie it up. Then they scored again. They they scored again and its been all Dortmund 3-1 heading to the half.
