I figured it was time for a new thread.

Also, look to former DAL coach for why people should stop crying for a new GM. "A new GM wants to bring his own guy in" so you fire GM, you fire Oates, and we have MORE coaching instability which obviously isn't going to help things.

Please social media, start demanding answers to Caps trivia pre-2007 before allowing pepople to talk about the Caps and what they need to do.

I want Hendricks back, but it just depends on how everything goes. The Caps and Ribeiro say they want to remain a couple, but it just doesn't seem realistic.

Well, one way to look at it is that Wilson fills a very similar role to Matty, and that is 1/5th of what Ribiero wants. We can afford him, it's just a matter of is it worth committing to 4 years? They have to use the amnesties though, get some of those bad contracts gone, and then look and retool. Can't be paying 4th line RW 3m per year. Your entire 4th line should make less than that. It'll be an interesting offseason to follow though.

If they don't amnesty Ward's contract I'm throwing my computer out the window!  The question is if they amnesty another contract who will it be?  Erat is the  most obvious choice, but how bad will GMGM look if he trades one of his top prospects for a rental player that he decides to amnesty?

Maybe Schultz? Erat makes the most sense being same length as Ward and similar price. Potentially you could be paying your 4th line 8.5m a year. Forsberg's contract was pretty hefty for a rookie deal too, if he turns out to be the bust some people expect, it may end up not being that bad of a move to unload him and amnesty Erat.

Yep, I remember when they traded for Erat and his salary questioning how they were gonna have the space to resign Ribeiro.

All I can do is give an eye-roll or 2 to GMGM for some of his moves.

Amnesty Erat and Ward, trade Schultz. That's $10m in cap space. Bring up Wilson to replace Ward, resign Ribeiro and slide Laich to LW on that line, even at $4.5m for Ribs, that's $6m and you have a spot for either Orlov or Schilling for another 1.5.

$7.5 spent without losing another player, still have $7m in cap space for the season.

(All this being said, Alzner's cap # could come in lower than they projected as stay at home guys usually don't get near as much as offensive guys (Carlson).

Someone call GMGM and get me a job.

Now THAT would be interesting. On the downside of his career, but I'd still like to have him.

As long as they get Lecaviller that can cover the Ribeiro loss, but if they don't get him and lose Ribeiro then there's going to a problem.

Sucks to lose a guy like Hendricks too (simply for his sick Penalty Shot skills).  But they can't afford to pay him 2 million.

Still waiting on them to amnesty Ward and Erat...
