David Stern/Roger Goddell get to enjoy their moments at the drafts. If hockey did it like other sports and have the whole team together instead of just handing it off to the captain, I think it be less awkward not that I'm in favor of changing it.
Also, one thing unique about hockey compared to the other major North American sports is that they do the championship celebration on the ice regardless of the team that wins. Obviously, the Super Bowl is exempt since it's at a neutral site, but the other sports do it in the locker room in the event that the road team wins to prevent this kind of scene from happening.
