This is a series of articles documenting the Terps' running back competition for 2013. Up first is Brandon Ross. I will then follow with Albert Reid and Wes Brown. It should be an exciting year for the Terps' 3 running backs, especially in what will be a very run-heavy offense.

I've just added my latest article in this series, which focuses on sophomore RB Albert Reid.

I'm a big fan of Wes Brown, but I'm also excited about Ross, and Reid. Have to love the depth, and the competition the 3 of them will have.

I'm a big Wes fan, too. I was glad to see him win the starting job outright last season before his injury. The good thing is that while they all have specialties (speed, power, etc.), they can all do everything well. So whether Locksley wants a 3-headed attack or wants to choose 1 guy, they'll be fine. They won't have to feel like they can't run certain types of running plays when a certain back is in because they can all get around the edge and they can all pick up tough yards inside.

You've got the wr's necessary to pull defenders from the box. You have the rb's to run the ball very effectively. It comes back to the line. Maybe after this series, you can take a further look at line?

I can definitely look at the O-Line more in-depth since that's really going to be the key to this season (seems like we've been saying that for the last 5 years). Giving C.J. time to throw or run is going to be key as well.

Enjoyed the three pieces Zack... good stuff and much appreciated.

My overall view is that Ross is going to have a breakout campaign and be among the nation's top runners.

Thanks, Greg. I'm going to be starting a similar one on the offensive line, so keep an eye out for those. Any of these backs has a chance to have a breakout season mainly due to the offense they're playing in. As long as the offensive line can create some push (they look to be better in run blocking than pass blocking) they could be one of the better rushing teams in the nation (after the triple-option teams).
