It was a slow week in the O's prospect world. Not much happened in terms of growth or production.

With a number of guys in the system struggling with walks, Berry's line for the week is good to see (and also the current reason I'm most excited about Gausman).

Yea, Berry has decent stuff for a LHP, but I think he is probably effectively wild at the A+ level (although that is just a guess since I haven't actually seen him yet this season).

I talked to a scout last year when he was at Bowie, and they basically told me that he was a guy that will need to really prove himself at AA before teams take him too seriously. That's not a knock, but just stating that command concerns are evident. Of course, I would argue that most pitchers have to prove themselves at AA anyways, so maybe the point is rather moot.

As mentioned, I haven't seen him yet, but I am curious as to how he is using the change. I know he falls in love with the curve sometimes. It's a good pitch, but improving his change is very important to me. If he cannot pinpoint his command down the road, maybe developing and refining the change is the best approach for him. (or doing both)

Somebody was talking about the improvements Ohlman has had at the plate this year. Did they revamp his swing or what?

Shortened his stride a little. Everything else has been natural. Just needed to play. Injuries kill a lot of prospects.

Good month of pitching in the O's minors.

Wow, Ohlman again. How long do you think it will be until he is back on the prospect radar?

On the Orioles map? He's already there.

National level? Tough to say because his defense is not exactly going to win anyone over. But I think he is a legitimate bat. I think you can honestly make an argument that his bat is just as good as Delmonico or Walker.
