Has anyone seen this? It came out around the Super Bowl. Years ago, Peter Angelos and Redskins owner, Jack Kent Cooke, had a meeting to try to stop Art Modell from moving the Browns to Baltimore. Angelos thought a Maryland man like himself should own the next Baltimore football team rather than an outsider. But the weasel needed someone like Cooke to help get him into the inner circles of the NFL.

But thankfully, the meeting turned out to be something you might see on Real Housewives of Baltimore/DC and they never teamed up.

I had known Angelos was not happy that Modell moved the Browns to Baltimore, and to a large extent is the reason why the city's two franchises had an icy relationship for so long. Didn't know about the meeting between him and Cooke. Funny stuff....and I can totally picture it. Good thing they hated each other though.

Saw it during Super Bowl week when it was written. Angelos had been trying to get the NFL team. Short of that, he had every reason on a personal level to oppose someone else owning an NFL team just like DC baseball. The Orioles were the only game in Baltimore sports, just like they were the only baseball team in the region. I doubt he really cared about the outsider status, although I'm sure he'd rather a local own it than an out-of-towner if it had to be done.
