Lots of walks, lots of ks, not a lot of homers. Relief prospect?

Baseball prospectus said his numbers were always better than his stuff and that caught up to him last year. They say 4th starter is his ceiling.

Seems fair I guess. Where would Welty fit with Avery, Hoes, Robinson, etc.

That's a Tucker question, but personally I'd have him below all those guys. Welty is also older than all of them except Robinson (who's 5 months older).

All things being equal, I'd take the pitcher just about every time. Probably insignificant, but I still like it.

That's what I thought so switching two similar talents here makes sense.

How much better will his stuff get out of the pen? Tht will determine if this is a nothing move or a minor steal.

Welty is OK. Nothing special. He is way below guys like Avery and Hoes to me.

With Rodriguez, you have to hope he eventually picks up some velocity and/or grows a little more to match his skillset. Otherwise, I don't think he will be much of anything if he stays relatively the same.
I think a move to the pen is worth a shot though. They certainly do not need anymore SP in AA

Scout I talked to on Rodriguez this morning: "Just has not developed to this point, the growth and stuff stalled, something just does not click"
