ESPN: Twins reinstate Joe Mauer to roster

Mauer spent the maximum three days on the paternity list. He was then transferred to the restricted list, which doesn't require teams to pay players on leave. To make room for Mauer, catcher Drew Butera was optioned to Triple-A Rochester.

First off, if the Twins were in contention, I doubt he's spending that much time away from the team and it's not like he's hurting for $. That said, the amount of births they should add more time. Twins should give you double the amount of days. I guess it get a little ridiculous for Melvin Mora though.

Twins pitcher Brian Duensing threw 14 total pitches on Friday, and got two wins.

Sources tell me and @jonmorosi that #Twins are retaining Gardenhire. Believed to be two-year deal.

Joe Mauer moving to first base (ESPN)

 

The Twins said they consulted with Mayo Clinic doctors and team physicians, and Mauer and the organization agreed the move was in the best interest of his long-term health given the inherent injury risks behind the plate. The Twins said Mauer is symptom-free now and has begun offseason workouts without restriction.

3T. Chris Colabello, OF/1B, Twins: Which of these guys isn't like the others? OK, so Colabello isn't a great like the three other guys here. But this is, without a doubt, a great story. Before this season, his claim to fame was a standout performance for Team Italy in the WBC. That impressive display might have gained a little bit of notice with the Twins, who gave him a full chance this year, and at age 30, he is showing he belongs in the bigs. Hard to believe, but Colabello, who grew up playing for the Italian club Rimini and didn't get to an MLB-affiliated team until 2012 when he joined the Twins organization, leads the American League in doubles with nine and RBI with 20.
