Agreed -- I think given the low scoring nature of hockey, along with soccer, it's harder to have such a long winning streak as well as sustained success.Apples to oranges. And no it's not more impressive. The Rockets had a longer streak about 6 years ago. So did Jordan's Bulls. No NHL team has ever done this.

As Pedro said, it's apples to oranges. Given that this streak is among the best of all=time in the NHL, how does that not serve as a basis for realizing it's an incredible feat?As I said, if they were 20-3, that would be impressive. I'm not saying this isnt an impressive stretch, I'm just saying that they haven't WON 23 games in a row. The Miami Heat have won 16 games in a row...that's more impressive because they haven't actually lost.

I have said, NUMEROUS times, that they have had an impressive start to the season. As Pedro said, it's apples to oranges. Given that this streak is among the best of all=time in the NHL, how does that not serve as a basis for realizing it's an incredible feat?
Perhaps this is more of a rant about thre stupidity of how hockey does things but they have lost 3 times...and have no losses in the loss column.
They have had a great season but at the end of the day, they should be 20-3 and while that is impressive, no one would really talk that much about it.

Going back to All-Star's point, if a baseball was 40-6, with all six of those losses coming in extra-innings wouldn't that be noteworthy?I have said, NUMEROUS times, that they have had an impressive start to the season.

Sure...it would be a great start...just as the Blackhawks have had.Going back to All-Star's point, if a baseball was 40-6, with all six of those losses coming in extra-innings wouldn't that be noteworthy?
But in baseball, THEY WOULD BE COUNTED AS LOSSES!!!!

At the end of the day, it's the best start in NHL history. Why just ignore that context?I have said, NUMEROUS times, that they have had an impressive start to the season.

The whole basis of OT losses being a different category comes from back when OT had no limits. There would be games all the time with 2-3 OT periods that were 20 min each, so teams would play a second full game sometimes. Now that they have shootout wins, they needed something that would separate a shootout win which was basically just created to keep games from going too long, from a normal win. It's not about being rewarded for not losing in regulation as it is to not fully award a team that couldn't win in regulation. Hockey is also the only sport that uses a point system and not just straight wins and loses. It takes ties and tie breakers and minimizes them because there is already a formula in place based on wins, losses, ties and shootout results.

In baseball, you can hit a ball out of play in one direction and it's considered dead, while you can hit one out of play in another direction and it's considered a score.Sure...it would be a great start...just as the Blackhawks have had.
But in baseball, THEY WOULD BE COUNTED AS LOSSES!!!!
Isn't that weird?

No...and its an awful attempt at analogy. In baseball, you can hit a ball out of play in one direction and it's considered dead, while you can hit one out of play in another direction and it's considered a score.

Considering you calling it awful is like a regular person calling it OK...No...and its an awful attempt at analogy.
You are getting overly annoyed by something from another sport that you find different and yet are not even bothering to understand why. You can't just declare it wrong, much as you try.
