In their 27-19 win vs. Detroit last night, the Niners held that capable Detroit offense to under 300 Total Yards.
For the second straight game, Smith had 2 TD's against 0 picks. Gore had 17 carries for 89 yards, and a TD.
Vernon Davis had 5 catches, and 2 TD's. Crabtree had 6 grabs.
After 4 catches and a TD in Week 1, Moss had just 1 catch for 14 yards yesterday.
Lots of talk understandably about the 49ers defense, but not enough credit to their big strong offensive line.

They're not as flashy as some of the other top teams, but I wouldn't be a bit surprised to see them as the NFC's representative in the Superbowl.

This is a tough one given Kaepernick performance, but I think one good game should NOT change the starting QB. Nonetheless, Smith's leash should be shorter.

Also, of note, I felt sorry for mwebs boy Campbell last night. He clearly sucks, but man did he take a beating.

Lol at everyone jumping on Kaepernick after 1 very good performance. Do people not learn from the past at all.

Haha, thanks.
He's mediocre, though.

I agree with you but it sounds like Kaepernick could get the start in NO.Smith has actually had a great year other than the Giants game. He was especially strong against the Cards two games ago and got off to a very good start vs the Rams last week.
Pretty likely he looks good in that start as well.

Well this is getting tougher. I still think it's too small of a sample size to give it to Kaepernick, but the more he plays, the more I like his chances. My guess is unless Kaepernick declines, one won't be there next year.
The old saying of when you have two QBs, you have no QB, doesn't exactly apply here.

I don't blame Alex Smith in the least for being upset. The 49ers aren't exactly too high on him after all. This is a QB who nearly led them to the SB and they made a very public play for Manning.
I can't think of another QB who lost their job over such a short anount of time. The more I think about it, the more I agree with it though, SSS I know.
ESPN did a story about 2 months ago on the relationship between the QB and backup. To say the least, it might be the most awkward relationship between any two players on a team in sports.
ESPN: Jim Harbaugh has done this before

Interesting take from Reilly, especially given his situation. I think Colin's birth mother is wrong to be giving interviews on this subject especially while the 49ers are still in the playoffs. She should be doing more behind-the-scenes and less in the public view. Even if you can't support a child, financially and/or emotionally, it still must be incredibly difficult to give up a child you gave birth too. I've read multiple stories on Colin's case and speculation about Russo's intentions. Just speculation on my part, but I don't think she is only seeking him out because he famous/successful, since she's been trying to make contact for a while. I don't think the $$$ angle is really there, like some think. Nonetheless, this is Colin's choice. I don't think anyone should force this upon him. Personally if it were me (I'm not adopted), I'd probably want to meet my birth parents, but that's just my nature. I can fully understand why he wouldn't -- it lead to more questions than answers, its awkward, you already have a family, etc.

49ers should be able to get a good return for this, no surprise. QBs don't exactly grow off trees.

Big loss for SF, as he really developed this year.
Makes the Boldin pickup even more important.
