I'm not sure if other universities do it this way, where the basketball team has their own residence hall. (I can't imagine due to costs, but I guess UK basketball is UK basketball.)

Each player gets their own room, sinks/showers designed for 7 footers. The residence hall has an incredible lounge, their own personal chef/kitchen/dining area, and an office assistant/secretary.

I think there's some other elite football/basketball programs, but I don't think it's the norm. What that video didn't mention was that ~50% of the people living in that residence hall have to be non-student athletes because there can't technically be "student-athlete" dorms.

Not that UK needs more selling points, but I'd imagine players are pretty impressed when they compare this to other top basketball programs.

Calipari...I have visions of hookers jumping out of windows and into hiding places like undocumented workers in a factory when an ICE inspector shows up.

At Colorado, they got almost no preferential treatment when it came to the dorms themselves. The football players roomed together, but that was about it. They had to share the common bathroom like everyone else. I know some who got some of the farthest away dorms on campus. On my floor, there was a girls soccer player, she roomed with non-athletes.

Dickie V was describing the ND experience similarilly, that they were in regular dorms. As I said I'd imagine UK is the exception NOT the norm. I could see this at other places like Alabama, Florida, Texas, USC? I'm sure of those schools do. When you are printing $$$ and just don't care at all about academics for these guys, you'll do it.
