So considering the cold weather NFL cities that deserve a shot at hosting the SB...and in the order they deserve it based on historical significance and logistics:

Chicago

Pittsburgh

Denver

Philadelphia

Baltimore

New England

Washington

Cincinnati

Cleveland

NE falls behind Baltimore because their stadium is in the middle of nowhere. Same with Washington.

I never had friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?

It would make sense.

I would think that Charlotte would get a SB ahead of Jacksonville but I forgot, the NFL has a boner for Florida.

There's can't be much more to do in Indianapolis than Charlotte.

Can we let this go? I don't think Jacksonville is getting another SB. The Jaguars owner has come out and said he's not trying to get a SB.

Indianapolis is a "convention city." By all accounts they handled the one they had some years back pretty well, some said it was the best organized.

New England is more in the middle of nowhere than DC. Landover is less than 10 miles away from DC.

Pittsburgh is too small for a SB. Chicago has the stadium capacity issue (Pittsburgh has this as well, but they could probably expand). Cincy is too small and I can't see Cleveland getting it either.

I heard that too.

Just heard on NFL Radio that Denver and Chicago are preparing bids for future Super Bowls. Chicago has one of the smallest stadiums so that opens up potential for places like Pittsburgh and the altitude in Denver would keep them from getting the game if it were up to me.

I don't think it opens up for places like Pittsburgh. They are a much smaller city. Green Bay isn't getting a Super Bowl either despite the fact they have an 80k seat stadium.

If you're OK with it being in cold weather cities, why would the altitude bother you? They just played the AFC CG there after all in 63 degree weather nonetheless. Besides Ryan Clark, no other player to my knowledge would be severely affected. Have you been to Denver before? Having lived in Colorado for four years, once you're there, I don't think it's as big of a deal as it's made out be. Just drink plenty of water as they advise.

If you have the hotel rooms and a downtown stadium I don't see why you shouldn't be considered. Doesn't mean you need to get a SB, but real consideration should be warranted.

ESPN: Philadelphia mayor wants Super Bowl

"Heck, yeah, we want it," Nutter told reporters, according to NJ.com. "And we can do it better than anyone else."

I met Nutter once, and he was capable of nothing beyond 3rd grade conversation.

CBS Sports: Money dictates NFL's future will include cold, outdoor Super Bowls

http://www.cbssports...oor-super-bowls

There will be another cold-weather, outdoor Super Bowl. Trust me.

Say what you will about the risks with the elements and transportation. Go ahead and save all those tweets from my peers in the media who were stuck in New York an extra day or two because of the storm that tore through the region within hours of the Seahawks' annihilation of the Broncos in Super Bowl XLVIII. Go ahead and print them out -- the details of people being stuck on tarmacs for hours, or forced to evacuate a concourse at LaGuardia; or the poor souls trapped in a commuter rail station for committing the sin of abiding by NFL directives and trying to get to a sporting event early -- because unless they are printed out on US currency, well, they aren't worth the paper they're printed on.

Don't waste your breath talking about what a disaster this Super Bowl could have been, how close it came to being a logistical nightmare. It doesn't matter. Bottom line is it was a success in the metrics that matter most -- another rating record, sponsors and advertisers were pleased, even the halftime show was the most viewed ever. For the league, it certainly seemed to be a financial bonanza. Money was made. And there is more money to be made in them, there snow-covered hills. And therefore the billionaires will be back.

By now I think any of us paying attention get the gist of NFL economics. This is big business, and being bold ("innovating" as commissioner Roger Goodell would say) is a huge part of that. It's why they are infatuated with London having a team. It's why we have football games being played regularly three days a week now. It's why we have a RedZone channel.

CBS Sports: NFL shouldn't push its luck with more cold-weather Super Bowls

Give Bob Kraft an orange wedge and give the 2019 Super Bowl to a city where the focus can be on football, not the forecast.

In this case, it's justified.

CBS Sports: Steelers Rooney: Super Bowl 'would be great' for Pittsburgh

http://www.cbssports...-for-pittsburgh

"I think it would be great for our city," Rooney said. "This, in some people's mind, is the birthplace of professional football. We certainly have a great tradition of being a football kind of town. I think it would be a great thing for us to do at some point."

The NFL requires 30,000 hotel rooms within a 90-minute drive of the stadium; Mark Belko of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette writes that the city would "need every bit of the 90 minutes" to hit that number.

Pittsburgh mayor Bill Peduto was quite enthusiastic about the city pulling together to make everything necessary happen.

"It's always been said that Pittsburgh could not host a Super Bowl because of our weather," Mr. Peduto said. "Last Sunday proved that theory wrong. Pittsburgh is the home to football and it would be a fitting place to host a Super Bowl in the future. I look forward to working with Mr. Rooney, the Steelers, our county executive and others to make that happen."

9 News (Denver): Still concern surrounding cold-weather Super Bowl site

"They are looking at what are the competitive ramifications of a Super Bowl played outside in bad weather – in inclement weather," Broncos President Joe Ellis said. The City of Denver has applied to bid on becoming a host of the Super Bowl in 2018, 2019 and 2020.

"I think there is some concern in compromising the competitive integrity of the game is a real risk," he continued.

There always was risk. I guess NYC was worth it but other cold weather cities aren't worth the risk. Good to know certain NFL markets are more important than others.

I sort of wish this past SB had been a weather-related nightmare. Then we wouldn't have to deal with any of this.

I feel that this will be like the NCAA basketball games on the aircraft carriers.

Wait until it actually influences games...then people will complain, and it'll likely go away.

And that would just be terrible, football being played in football weather. Why not just require all northern teams to build a dome so inclement weather will never influence games.
