The League Cup is an annual competition among the 92 teams that make up the top four divisions of English soccer: the Premier League and the three Football League divisions (Championship (2nd level), League One (3rd) and League Two (4th). Most years, the two teams that make the final are members of the Premier League, though occasionally a Championship club makes it (Cardiff City last year, losing to Liverpool).

This year will see either Chelsea or Swansea City, both Premier League clubs, against Bradford City. Bradford City plays in League Two, though they were a Premier League club as recently as 2001. In the last three rounds, they defeated Wigan Athletic, Arsenal, and Aston Villa, all Premier League clubs, to advance to the final at Wembley Stadium.

They are the first team from the fourth-division to make it to the League Cup final in fifty-one years.

Yep. Great story. This team will go down in Bradford City folklore no matter the result at Wembley.

I'm quite happy for them. As much as I enjoy top-flight football, it's great to see smaller teams getting some good action in as well. It's why competitions like the League Cup and the FA Cup are so fantastic.
