I, for one, am pretty disgusted by the NHL. After they blew things up for an entire season not all that long ago, they rake us over the coals again this year.

I personally blame Bettman more than anyone else, and as such, I'm not really planning to follow the NHL until they kick his ass to the curb. Anybody with me?

Of course, with my luck, as soon as I stop following, the Blues and Caps will meet in the Cup Finals, and I'll miss it.

I'm sure i'll watch some -- but I can't say I'm rushing back and want to spend my $$$ on the NHL. I don't think is like the NFL or even the NBA (which got back sooner) that they can just expect the fans to comeback.

Especially when this is your second work stoppage in a span of almost 8 years. I'll still be watching the NHL, mainly because I am a fan of Adam Oates and will like to see what he is able to do with this Capitals team.

My money is already spent on tickets. So ill be going to a few games. Not happy about the mess but im glad the players stood up for themselves...this could have been a lot worse. Lots of plagers were serious about never coming back.

Haha, this thread definitely reminds me of the Grantland article on the 10 people we saw during the lockout - http://www.grantland... ... hl-lockout

The Boycotter

The NHL could only lock out its players for the third time in 20 years because they assumed the fans would come back. But what if they didn’t come back ... EVER? [Ominous thunder.] Or at least for the first few games or so. Or maybe just the first period. Look, we haven’t quite worked out the details yet.

The Boycotter thinks he is the NHL’s worst nightmare. And he’d have been right if only everyone would have just signed the petition or watched this YouTube video or liked that Facebook page and, oh, hey, by the way, any chance he could he get an RT?

Look, The Boycotter’s heart was in the right place. He was mad as hell, and because he missed a memo about how this generation handles being mad about something, he decided to try to actually do something about it. It was adorable, really. But it was also hopeless. Yes, fans will have less interest in NHL hockey, and that should translate to the attendance numbers, but they won’t make some sort of en masse statement, because that’s not how hockey fans work. The Boycotter was always so doomed to such utterly embarrassing and predictable failure that he should have just started wearing a Maple Leafs goaltender mask.

And I just think the article is really funny... trust me, I'm bitter too, and really can't blame anyone who would take such a stance.

The nearest NHL team to me is a 6-hour drive and a border-crossing, so I wouldn't be going to any games, lockout or not. And hockey isn't usually appointment viewing for me until the playoffs....I might catch a game on NBC Sports Net once a week during the regular season if the matchup looks good. That will probably stay the same now.

I'm a little more than four hours from the Predators. I'll go to between 0 and 2 games per year, and I'll watch a majority on TV. I'd like to catch a game this season, and I'm horribly grateful they're coming back for my TV viewing as I cannot stand basketball.

Losing a whole season really pissed me off when that happened, and although the Capitals have had fairly good fortune since, I have not followed the NHL as much. This has been part of my decrease in interest in most major American sports in general, but with the NHL it did relate first to the '04-'05 (that was the year, right? getting old...) poochscrew. As for now, my interest level will probably be about the same as before this stoppage.

The only boycotting I did was not wearing any Caps gear while the lockout was ongoing. I'm glad that I can wear some of my swag again. I'm definitely bitter about this, but I'm too much of a junkie and I need my Hockey fix so I'll watch.

I'm with you. I ordered a sweet winter classic style Caps hoodie yesterday, in fact. (Oops) :?

I've worn my caps hat, and some shirts here or there the entire time :( I'm not proud.
