I haven't really watched VaTech, except for a few minutes of that Iowa game, so I don't have a great grasp, but going by the #'s, I like this match-up for the Terps. I expect the Terps to significantly out rebound and out assist the Hokies on Saturday. I think that translates to a 10'ish point win in the Terps first ACC game. I hope Comcast is ready.

Everyone else gets tickets to ACC games. I get tickets to Delaware State :)

So looking forward to this game. My 4 and 5 year old boys have a birthday party that just happens to be between 12 and 2. So my wife is taking them to the party, and I'll be home with my 16 month old daughter, who I will be sure to keep up all morning so she'll take a nap.

Seriously - can't wait. Love my kids to death, but the ability to watch a simple sporting event uninterrupted is something you take for granted.

But enough about me - as for the game, really comes down to stopping Erick Green. He's good, and I remember he's played very well against MD in the past, but this is a different MD team and there's not much behind him. I think he'll see a lot of Faust and Wells tomorrow.

I wish I was going, I don't get out to Comcast enough.

GD - looks like you know how to work it with the family - well done! ;)

How much would a loss effect your outlook on the Terps this season?? I've been, and continue to be, positive about the Terps, but a loss would concern me. At least more than it should for the first ACC game of the year.

I saw that there are tickets still available for tomorrow. That tells me there is going be a so-so atmosphere. A loss with 17 remaining ACC regular season games would not be 'huge', but would rise an eyebrow.

Thanks, but if I knew how to work it that well then it wouldn't be such a rare occasion that I'm able to. :)

It depends on how they lost. If it's some freakish, stupid one-off performance by VaTech and they win at the end, it is what it is... sometimes you just get beat when a team does something they shouldn't. If it's a lack of focus/energy thing on the Terps end, then that'd be a bit more concerning.

It would be somewhat concerning regardless, just because the bubble line is definitely higher for this team and this 18-game ACC season.

Thanks Mike, yep it was a great gift. I spend a lot of games writing. Going to go enjoy today just as a fan. Should be fun. Like you, I'm expecting an energized Terps team. Hoping to see a good start, and have them grab control pretty early.

I haven't been this excited for an ACC season to start in a while. Probably since Greivis' senior year. It feels great to have the team back to the level that we should be at and looking up even higher!

Layman gets the start and hits a 3 on the first possession.

Who had that in the pool?

And he gets a tip-in on a missed 3 on the second possession.

Very talented player. Turgeon is trying to build his confidence.

I get that, but I just didn't expect him to start in game 1 of ACC play. It's obviously worked. Geez.

I like what I think he is trying to do. Start some youth which allows you to bring some exp. off the bench.
Terps look active early, passing well.

Mitchell is something special inside.

Mitchell is fun to watch, he's near perfect down there with his footwork.
