Stony Brook won at Sacred Heart last night to improve to 8-2. The avenged a previous home lost to Sacred Heart. Stony Brook's other loss was an 11 point loss at UConn.

They have started the same 5 starters in each of their 10 games. The 10 players who have played in at-least 9 games, have averaged a minimum of 6.7 minutes per.

Freshman Forward Jameel Warney (6'8) is averaging 11.9 ppg, 7.9 boards, shooting 64.9% from the floor.

The Seawolves have 5 players averaging 2 or more 3 point attempts per game. The leading scorer - Anthony Jackson - averages 5.7 attempts per game from outside, and is shooting 38.6% from that range. Overall, he scores 13.2 ppg, and is hitting 93.8% from the line.

I'm glad that the Terps will have one reasonably decent opponent before ACC play. I know they're an America East team, but they aren't exactly a bottom-feeder (ranked 77 by Sagarin, 101 by KenPom).

The Terps should win, of course, but I'm curious how many minutes the starters will receive vs. the bench players.

Looks like a much better opponent than the one's we've had the past couple of weeks.

I hate this "tweener" period when the early season OOC pack of games are pretty much over with, and we play a game a week to bridge the gap to the new year and the start of ACC play.

Well, there is that thing that the players are students, and they've got finals, and holidays, and all of that stuff ...

'tis the way it is.

Stony Brook's definitely better than the cupcakes that have been in the past few games. Hopefully the Terps have a bit more energy and focus to start the game and can put this one away.

So, if MD loses tonight, was that what the Mayans meant about the end of the world?

It is always a trying time for a coach when there is a break in the schedule. In addition, this is get away day for the players as Turgeon is giving them time off for Christmas. Good test for a young team. I think they pass it but it may not be pretty.

In some ways this is an everything to lose and nothing to gain game.

Stony Brook is a decent team...but Maryland really gains nothing by beating them. FOr Stony brook this is a tourney type game. They make a name by winning tonight.

I am guessing Turgeon has mentioned that to the Terps more than once.

Maryland up 9-2 at the 17 minute mark. Len has made all 3 of his attempts.

Base line drop-step for Len, and he is going to the line. Not enough size from SB to give Len any contest. As Glen Consour (sp?) said, the SB guards should be trying to strip Len when he's brought the ball down.

Allen adds a trey.

Agreed, Chris... Stony Brook is definitely legit. Leyman looks lost again during his time so far tonight.

Burying a lot of 3's, but I liked that they started off the game with finding Len inside. Hope to see that to start the 2nd half as well.

I've generally liked what we've seen from Layman this year, but do agree he can look lost at times. Offensively, I'd like to see him do a bit more inside, and than work his way out. He looks like his working on moving without the ball. Probably understandable, since he's probably always had the ball in his hand every possession growing up.
