Ellerbe has the quickness that could serve well on the outside. IMO, Upshaw has the size and strength that could serve well on the inside. It's OL and ILB for me. I think Ellerbe could slot over to become an adequate OLB if we found a good ILB in the draft. Just a thought.

I was wondering if there was anyone worth taking a flier on in the 2nd or 3rd round.

I think that'd be an awful use of a 2nd or 3rd round pick. We already have a decent enough backup in Tyrod and we more desperately need depth on the O-line, D-line, and at linebacker. We've got too many holes to fill to be wasting picks on a quarterback.Weak QB draft, right?

Yeah, it'll be interesting to see if we can retain Ellerbe with Ray's and Ed's contracts coming off the books (I would imagine, even though there'd be some cap hit). This is also reason why the Ravens can't really afford to franchise Flacco (An estimated $16M cap hit). There was also speculation at the time of the contracts being originally signed, that Suggs and Ngata were good bets to restructure after a couple years to help free up cap space. So that will be something to follow as well.Ellerbe is a UFA, along with Kruger.
Bottom line, we need to retain Ellerbe.

Any idea what player(s) you think will drop to the end of the first round? I know WalterFootball (as well as other sites) have the Ravens targeting middle linebackers. Bleacher Report (hah!) thinks Te'o might slip all the way to the Ravens at #32.
Personally, I wouldn't be surprised to see us trade this pick. Obviously, there is a lot of time between now and the draft. Still, what do you say?

I can still see us trading for Rolando McClain.

If we part ways with Anquan, a WR could make a lot of sense. DL wouldn't be a bad option either, IMO.
If you guys let Anquan go, I'm putting money on DET gobbling him up. Boldin and Megatron on the outside?? Man.

If we let Reed go, I definitely think we draft a Safety at some point, especially after losing Zibby and Haruki last year. Maybe in the first couple rounds if they expect someone to start right away. I definitely feel the team should be focusing on the defense (everywhere except CB basically) and the offensive line. Those would be my target areas.

Boldin said he'd retire if the Ravens don't bring him back.
My guess is he'll sign at a lower cost.
