He's a punk, but the story here is the Twins' coaching staff tweaked his release point / delivery significantly. It got some play in his first start, and tonight he looked as good as he ever did in Baltimore. Or at least from what I care to remember of a pitcher who could never seem to pitch effectively ahead in the count. 

Dean was average at best here, but JMO but not a punk.

Could be. Especially if the rumors that the Twins fixed his pitch tipping issues hold any weight. That's the stuff that just causes some cyclonic activity in my brain. Not good.

Austin Voth looked like an ace for a few months when we got him. Same with Jorge Lopez. Change of scenery tweaks aren’t unusual. The Os are actually doing alright with SP right now so I’ll give them a little benefit of the doubt there.

Kremer types around the league are a dime a dozen. Decent enough, will keep you in games, throw masterpieces every 10th start, etc.. They'll also pitch like crap every now and then. Plus, his two good Minn starts were against KC and Bal. Also ran teams aren't usually much of a challenge.

Yeah, I don't buy that, either. It's the age-old tipping pitches and arm-angle fix, which has probably been around since Cy Young. And if that doesn't work, just let him be who he is. 

 

The Twins rank 26th in team ERA this year at 4.59, but they've suddenly "fixed" Dean Kremer? I didn't see the game last night, but I wonder if bad at-bats had as much to do with the Orioles' futility at the plate as anything Kremer was doing differently.

Orioles hit and scored a ton on Sunday so it was pretty much guaranteed they would fall flat for most of yesterdays game.  Deaner got to feast on the futility.

It can be both things, we'll just have to wait for some future results. I don't like to put the cart before the horse, but it's gonna look real bad for the O's, if Dean slays good teams down the stretch.

Come on guys, we know who Kremer is. He'd have been fine in the back of next years rotation as he has been fine in the back of the rotation the past several years. He's no better and likely no worse than that. I wasn't excited about having both him and Young in next year's rotation, so him being gone is good in that sense but it does put the onus on Elias to replace him with someone better which I have very low expectations for. I'm terrified of all the chatter about upper minors pitching. I fear that Elias will ignore the MLB rotation thinking that he's got it covered internally and I'm not down with that acceptance of performance risk.

He's already got Nickle on board. We have it in house now - because Elias learned signing FA SP's is hard.

 

Just wild people are OK with this. It's a prolonged track record of mediocrity on the whole from this GM, but hey, we've got prospectzzzzz.
