Shane Baz vs Payton Tolle

Boston 50-48, 6GB in the AL East, have won 13 straight.

Baltimore 49-51, 8GB in the AL East, have won 7 straight.

The Red Sox are currently the 3rd WC, they are 1 game up on Seattle, and 2 games up on the O's.

The O's are tied with Minnesota...  behind them are Houston, Toronto, and Detroit, each 4.5 games back of Boston.

Boston
23rd runs scored
15th batting average

18th on-base %
22nd slugging %
4th in ERA

Baltimore
11th runs scored
22nd batting average

11th on-base %

20th slugging %   (One of the more surprising numbers of the year to me.)
14th in ERA

Meaningful baseball is so much better!  Imagine if every series was like this.  Get good again and it can be!

This win streak shows how hard it is to get out of a deep hole they dug themselves into. 7 wins later, and they're still at their high water mark of 2 games out. The cool thing is, this series matters now. A few weeks ago, this was the battle for the basement. Baseball rules!

Tolle was tough the first time we faced him. I believe we had baserunners on regularly, but he shut us down. I do not like this guy. Why does Boston always seem to get the guys we'd love if they were an Oriole, but hate to have to face them?

Because they invest in pitching from the draft on.

Don't those guys know we hang on every situation with bated breath?

I'm partially kidding. I understand that they can't report on unconfirmed situations/conditions. But this is the best this team has been in awhile. I'm literally dangling from a string. The bastards gave me hope.

I'm remaining 97.875% pessimistic until I see a .500 record.

It's unfortunate that the injuries are hitting us at the wrong time. The pitching is gonna have to continue to carry us and we're gonna have to scratch out some runs somehow. They can do it.

You're smarter than me. I'm so tired of suffering a crappy team, I want something good to believe in, about this team.

1. Don’t get swept. That’ll kill the best vibe they’ve had in years.

2. If/when you do lose a game, at least look and act like a team that deserves to be playing games of this magnitude.

That's what good teams do. When one leg of the stool is compromised, the other two make up for it.

I don't suggest attempting this with any of the stools you'll find at your home or local bar.

It’s tough to sit when the defensive leg is about half the length of the others.

Glad it's only 10 days now.  He can be back middle of next week.
