A boost for Baltimore during draft week: Ravens DT Nnamdi Madubuike, who suffered a season-ending and career-threatening neck injury in Week 2 last season, underwent neck surgery last week that left his doctors believing he willl be able to resume playing this season, per sources.

Biggest news of the offseason if true.

If Mads makes it back, IMO it is a game changer for the defense.
Jones and Mads collapse the middle and Hendrickson, Green work the edges.
Adding someone like Bain through the draft or someone like Clowney in free agency would allow Minter to pressure with 4 or 5 like he likes and drop 6 or 7 into coverage.

Seems like they've been planning for this for a month or two so doesn't strike me as an amazing out-of-nowhere boon, but great to hear it more concrete.

His return could solve a lot of the defensive woes if he's back at normal performance.

I am a bit surprised to hear he underwent another procedure.  Wonder what that's about?

"Resume playing this season."

That's been the assumption.

But the wording makes me wonder if Game 1 is not expected.

That's good news but I would approach the draft and season as if he never plays again.

I never had friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?

Hard to imagine game 1 being expected. If he's been too injured to play he's too injured to fully train, and post surgery you'd imagine that will be the case a bit longer. Having not gone full out for a year means it will take time to get back into game shape much less performing at an all pro level as before. I suspect a mid season boost is more likely.

Maybe, but there are videos out showing Beeks working out and working out aggressively.

Either way, getting him back is a huge plus for the Ravens.

I think we would have had many more sacks last year with Beeks healthy.

They know a lot more than we do but this is a good start. We'll probably get a better timetable and more details when training camp starts.
