This is terrible logic. They won the game multiple innings later after exhausting more bullpen arms due to a blown lead that was the result of pitching to a perennial MVP candidate and the best hitter on the team. That decision was purely detrimental.

Stay miserable.

Done discussing it.

You can't even enjoy an Orioles win .

You dont know what you are talking about.

Youre arguing with a smart former high level baseball player in russ. Youre also arguing with me. Thats even dumber than arguing with russ. You dont get it and thats fine. But just let it go

FWIW, Albie addressed his decision on the radio today. (He was a bit irritated with the question BTW)

First, he said although Witt is a great player, He's not off to the strongest start.(i.e. this isn't steroid era Barry Bonds) More importantly, He especially didn't want to put Witt on with his speed. He felt that a ball gap with Witt on would end the game.

Witt got a hot to tie the game, not to walk it off.

Besides it being a bad decision to walk him, you also are showing the rookie pitcher confidence in him. He needs to pitch in these high lev ABs against good hitters. What does it say to him if you are walking Witt there. He got him in a 1-2 hole he just didnt make a great pitch. I dont even likegoing with the change there. Stay with the fastball sweeper combo

First 3 pitches were smart/good. And if he'd not chased and it was 2-0 or 3-0, it then probably becomes an intentional walk. Once you get ahead with him actually chasing, stick with it and try to get him to chase again. Don't throw one over the plate. I am assuming they intended that and he badly missed his spot.

Witt hit it at 82 MPH btw. Not exactly smoked. I wondered if a better LF had any shot at it. Prob not. The xBA on it was like .900 so he found the right spot

Sorry, the "big-timing" angle doesn't work on me.
