I figured with Wagner being such a highly ranked HS prospect he wouldve been a high transfer prospect. 247 has him ranked at like 150. Lower than the kids from New Mexico and Tennessee. So that takes any shine off that acquisition.

Wagner is a good player at a position Maryland really needed.

There is truth to the idea the shine was off the apple, but that doesn't mean he doesn't have value.

Wagner started 83 games in the SEC.  He's been a double-digit scorer.

This past year, he started less (19 games, still averaged 24 minutes)...    the 3point shooting improved... the foul shooting went down.  Asst to TO ratio improved.

He and Boswell will give MD two very experienced guards, that will contribute.
At a minimum, we can get expect there won't be any moments where the lights are too big.

Boswell in-particular lauded for his defense, and he started 33 games.  Shot the 3 at a good %, but didn't take a ton.

They're going to contribute.  20 ppg combined seems reasonable.   If you get closer to 28 combined with them hitting 35 to 40% of their 3's, making their foul shots, playing good defense, and being able to run the offense in 1/2 court sets... then they'll really have something.

Having Mills, Passmore (hopefully), and House as other available guards....  MD looks to be in pretty good shape guard wise.

I think Maryland is deeper,  older and more physically able to handle the B10.  I like what they have done.  Time will tell how the pieces fit together, but combined with the freshman class, there is good talent coming in the door.

I will feel better when I hear Payne is approved.  The NCAA  is strange, and has their favorites and Maryland is not on that list.

Yep, the outlook is completely different if Payne isn't approved.

If he is....  you get Passmore back, and add Edema....  it's a quality roster.

I'll go on record as saying I think the roster is too one-dimensional. Not nearly enough shooters for me. It's not surprising, and I definitely think this roster lends itself much better to the style of basketball that Buzz likes to play, but I don't see a team that threatens to make any real postseason run.

They'll definitely be better, and might even touch the Top 25 at times, but success in March is all about guards who can light it up on the scoresheet and, at least on paper, Maryland doesn't really have any of those. It's a style that I do think will play well in this conference, though.

G Michael McNair (Boston) has officially committed to Maryland, giving them their sixth addition through the transfer portal for next season. He averaged 16.9 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game for the Terriers last season. He shot 44.4% from beyond the arc last year after shooting 40.8% the year before.

He's ranked as the 224th-best player in the portal, and the 31st-best at the combo guard position.

With the addition of McNair, Maryland's roster for next season is set. Del Pino and Passmore are expected to return, while Edema is now not expected to be added. If he remains in the 2027 class, Maryland will still be a strong contender for his commitment.

Guards: Wagner, Boswell, Mills, McNair, House, Del Pino, Passmore, Sotell

Wings: Oladotun, Turkson Jr., Brown, Jabriel

Bigs: Payne*, Buljan, Jennings II, Tambedou

* = pending medical redshirt

Well. You wanted a shooter…

There is baseball, and occasionally there are other things of note

"Now OPS sucks.  Got it."

"Making his own olive brine is peak Mackus."

"I'm too hungover to watch a loss." - McNulty

I just watched some highlights.  He is a sniper, with a quick release.   It was just a highlight package but from watching them he seems to be able to handle enough to go by defenders and get to the basket.

Disappointing about Edema, but I like what they have done.

I am shocked that Del Pino stayed.

IMS: Did Arkansas want DJ Wagner back and will he thrive as Maryland's PG? Razorbacks insider says...

I think Wagner has the chance to be a really solid Big Ten lead guard. It certainly depends on how he's going to be utilized. If he has to shoulder more of the scoring responsibility, the results will be mixed. Where he will excel is if he can be more of a facilitator, who is really comfortable with the ball in his hands in high-pressure situations or when things break down. He's also more than capable of being a secondary or tertiary scoring threat on a given night. I know it's very cliche to say, but there were a lot of times, especially this past season when his role diminished, where I felt DJ had a significant impact on Arkansas winning, but the box score didn't reflect that.

Acuff's rapid rise cut into Wagner's time. He is entering a totally different situation with the Terps. We will see how it shakes out.

11 B10 teams make Lunardi's Bracketology. Maryland not one them. Nor are they one of the next 8 teams out.

I saw that, but not sure it means much.  Based on last years disaster and all the new players, I can see not having them in the tournament projections, but at this point, who cares.

I am trying to stay positive, and I think that is fair because they have a top 5 freshman class and I believe they have done a good job in the portal.

JMO, but any tournament projections at this point are column fillers.

I will say, if 26-27 turns out to be a repeat of last year then, I will join you on the Buzz is not the right fit for Maryland platform.

I think they have good talent this year, and I thought last years problem was subpar talent, especially after Payne went down and others spent big parts of the year injured.

Of course they will be better, but they need to be considerably better.

All I can say is I like Buljan. Wouldnt be surprised if he makes an All Big10 team. The Gs seem suspect and you never really rely on freshmen.

Btw is this a top 5 recruiting class. Find that hard to believe without Edema

I know little about the new players that transferred in besides stats, but I think they'll be decent in the paint and the wings (health permitting). The backcourt concerns me. Wagner and Boswell look like high turnover guys. Offensively this team could be brutal to watch. You don't go very far in CBB without good guards.

HS class was 10th.

Transfer class was 19th.
Overall class was 5th.
