Maryland has reportedly been in contact with G D.J. Wagner (Arkansas). He averaged 7.4 points, 1.6 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game for the Razorbacks last season.

So 247 has it predicted MD will land Wagner.

Out of HS he was a 5 star, 6th overall Nationally.

His 3 point shooting improved in '25-'26 (his Jr. year).

FT% went down, and he got to the line less.

2.4 assists vs. 0.7 turnovers as a Jr.

He started 64 of 65 games in his Freshman and Soph seasons at Kentucky and Arkansas...  that decreased to 19 starts in 35 games as a Junior.

Averaged 34.6 minutes as a Soph, and that dropped to 23.6 as a Junior.

He'd give MD good guard depth, and I'd think could push Boswell and Mills for time.

I wouldn't think he'd scare off Passmore, but who knows?

If they land Wagner as expected, he'd be the starting PG. Mills or Oladotun pushed to the bench.

Nothing new, expectation is that he'll be on the roster next season.

If they officially land Wagner, that continues the addition of guys with a lot of experience to team with the Freshman.

Guards: Wagner, Boswell, Mills, Passmore, House
Wings: Oladuton, Turkson, Brown
Bigs: Payne, Buljan, Jennings, Edema, Tambedou

- Should be an excellent rebounding team.

- Good front court reserves.

- Guard depth is good, better if Passmore stays...  how good are Wagner, Boswell in 1/2 court sets running the offense?   How good / consistent is the outside shooting?

- How good is Oladuton right away?

- Looks like a physical team, with good useable depth (if Passmore stays, Edema arrives, and Wagner becomes official).

I’m having major trouble seeing where the scoring is coming from. Wagner isn’t a shooter, Boswell could be but hasn’t proven it consistently at the collegiate level, Mills was solid for the last few months of his redshirt freshman year, Oladotun isn’t a shooter at this point in his development, and Buljan/Payne do all of their work around the rim. Any chance of success that this team has will rely on stifling defense, dominating the glass, and getting easy buckets in transition.

It would be a bit of a rock fight team.

The whole team will need to get to the line and convert.

Passmore staying and Edema coming (in addition to Wagner), would have me excited about their potential.

If that happens, I think they'll be Top 25 to enter the year (more important that they are there to end the year), and expected Top 5 or 6 in The Big Ten.

F Maban Jabriel (Queens) has officially committed to Maryland, becoming their fourth addition through the transfer portal for the upcoming season. He averaged 7.7 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.0 assists per game for the Royals last season. He drastically improved his perimeter shooting last year, averaging 43.2% from beyond the arc, and has two years of eligibility remaining.

Big kid at 6'9 who appears to be able to shoot a little.

If you're going to take a flyer on someone, why not a 6'9" guy who shot 43% from deep.

With Wagner officially on board, here's what your fully healthy starting lineup likely looks like for next season:

PG: D.J. Wagner

SG: Bishop Boswell

SF: Andre Mills / Baba Oladotun

PF: Tomislav Buljan

C: Pharrel Payne (pending medical redshirt)

If nothing else it appears they have a lot more length on this team, especially on the wings, than they did last season. Hopefully that translates to better defense than we saw.

And more offensive rebounds! That's the most important thing.

They still need to gel. This past season doesn't give me a lot of confidence in that area, but maybe Buzz will be able to pull them together. I know that injuries this past season played a larger than normal role, but at times they looked like a pick up basketball team.

I feel like Maryland has done a good job bringing in new talent.  The freshman class is one of the best in the country and if they do add Edema may well be the best.  The portal results have been good.  Getting DJ gets them their lead guard.  Time will tell but so far I like it.

Maryland has reportedly been in contact with C Eric Reibe (UConn). He averaged 5.9 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 0.5 assists per game for the Huskies last season.

Reibe is headed to USC.

I figured with Wagner being such a highly ranked HS prospect he wouldve been a high transfer prospect. 247 has him ranked at like 150. Lower than the kids from New Mexico and Tennessee. So that takes any shine off that acquisition.

Harper is headed to North Dakota State.

He is probably a fan of the warm winter weather.  Someone buy the kid a heavy coat.
