Sure but it also chews up that cap space until a deal gets done, which hamstrings our ability to upgrade the roster in other ways. And, at the moment, I think we're projected to be about 25 million under the cap.
Needing cap space early in the off-season is overrated, IMO. You're gonna eventually need to have cap space for draft picks, last couple guys on the roster, practice squad, injury replacements, and any in-season acquisitions. But as long as you have an obvious method to create that space (restructure, post June 1 credits, etc), then you can spend right up to the cap in March and April and May without much worry.
