Sure but it also chews up that cap space until a deal gets done, which hamstrings our ability to upgrade the roster in other ways. And, at the moment, I think we're projected to be about 25 million under the cap.

Needing cap space early in the off-season is overrated, IMO. You're gonna eventually need to have cap space for draft picks, last couple guys on the roster, practice squad, injury replacements, and any in-season acquisitions. But as long as you have an obvious method to create that space (restructure, post June 1 credits, etc), then you can spend right up to the cap in March and April and May without much worry.

I suspect Linderbaum's agent might be using that as leverage against the Ravens. I know there are teams out there that do dumb things but giving a C, no matter how good, as much as $25M/yr sounds like a bridge too far for anyone.

Who's the C in Cleveland?

Guys on both include Linderbaum (#2), McGovern (#6), Pocic (#12), Cushenberry (#20), and Mays (#22). Not on the UDFA list but recently released is Biadasz (#15).

Biadasz is reportedly going to visit the Bears, who suddenly found themselves with a void at the position.

He's agreed with the Chargers for 3/$30M. That AAV will rank 6th among centers currently. Linderbaum, McGovern and Mays will likely all leapfrog him in the next week or so.

4/$52M for McGovern to stay in Buffalo.  $32M guaranteed.

I just cannot see paying Linderbaum almost twice that much.  We'll see if he actually has that market but even $20M seems too steep for me.

Yeah he's better than those other guys, but 50% better? I don't think it's worth it, as long as we have a reasonable alternative.

I don't think it's a guarantee that Linderbaum gets more than what the Ravens are offering him.  There's always those dumb F teams who overpay players and never get any better, but this may be one time where it doesn't shake out like that.  I guess we'll know by Monday night.  It wouldn't shock me if he resigns with Baltimore but I'm not expecting it.

Raiders have a need at center and have FU cap money right now and need a major upgrade to their line for the new QB. I can totally see them getting TL if he makes to FA.

I think he's as good as gone.

If Linderbaum is intent on leaving and they're willing pay a little more than what the Ravens are offering, I think the Giants would be a good landing spot for him. He'd be reunited with Harbs and they're building a nice nucleus up there in Jersey.

Likely just made the move.
