Following four consecutive losses by an average of 28.0 points, Maryland heads back on the road for a matchup against Minnesota in Minneapolis on Sunday afternoon. The Golden Gophers currently hold a record of 11-12 (4-8) on the year, and had lost seven straight games before pulling off a major upset over Michigan State earlier this week. Niko Medved is in his first season as their head coach, following seven years as the head coach at Colorado State.

Minnesota is led by their defense, and they defend extremely well without fouling and protect the paint at a high level. They're excellent inside the arc on the offensive end as well, led by North Carolina transfer Cade Tyson who averages 19.8 points per game. They aren't a big team by any means (Colorado State transfer Jaylen Crocker-Johnson is their biggest starter at 6'8" 240 lbs.) but they use what size they do have very well down low.

Maryland is 17-3 all-time against Minnesota, but did lose their last matchup in Minneapolis during the 2023-24 season.

I'm gonna predict that they lose this one by less than 20.

Minnesota opens as 8.5-point favorites in this game. ESPN gives them a 75.2% chance to win.

How bad is Steve Blake's boy? Hasn't played a single minute yet this season.

Let's just say he wouldn't be anywhere near this roster if not for his last name (which is perfectly fine for a walk-on).

Jaziah Harper hasn't played at all either though, and he was a 3-star recruit.

33-32 Minnesota at halftime. Maryland shooting 50% from the field, including 36% from beyond the arc. Being out-rebounded 16-13, and have attempted just five free throws. Sharing the ball well so far though, already seven assists to just four turnovers.

Coit leads all scorers with nine points.

Regardless of the final outcome, this is easily Maryland's best performance of the year, start to finish.

What a second half from Diggy, and that shot has a chance to win it for Maryland.

And he knocks down the late free throws to ice this game.

Maryland wins, 67-62 and improves to 9-14 (2-10) on the season. They'll return home to College Park for a matchup against Iowa on Wednesday night.

Diggy Coit will go down as one of my favorite bad Terp team players.

Today was a fun game to watch.  When Diggy gets it going, he doesn't stop.

I told my son at halftime that Diggy needed to go off for Maryland to win and he did and they did.

I thought Washington did a hell of a job on defense and the boards, Adams helped Coit down the stretch and I also thought Metcalfe gave them some nice minutes.

Hopefully Adams sticks around.... he's probably the only player aside from Payne I'd like to see back next year. Wish Coit had more eligibility as a 6th/7th man.

I think Mills has some possibilities.

Yeah, he gives me scrappy guard vibes like Sean Mosley and Darryl Morsell. I wouldn't hate it.
