I'm in shock....saddened in 1,000,000 ways.  John Harbaugh is the epitome of CLASS, and it's sad to see him go.  However, I'm also excited to see who we will now bring in to take us into the future with Lamar and to gut our horrible coordinators and rebuild our defense.

Feels like Harbaugh wanted to run it back with the same crew, and the front office shut it down.

Hearing Biscotti himself say he relieved him of his duties is kind of telling. Certainly doesn't sound like a mutual parting of ways. Feels like Harbaugh laid out an ultimatum to keep certain coaches, and Biscotti called him on it.

Geez, leave for an hour and look what happens.

Firmly believe it was necessary, and had to be a tough decision to make. Not going to pile on Harbaugh now, as it should be a time to celebrate what he accomplished, and look forward to the next chapter.

Yeah Rapoport said exactly this on NFL Network, that earlier today Harbaugh felt he was safe and going to move forward with the same staff with some minor tweaks.

Very good post.  Classy way of putting it.

John did a lot of good for this organization

It's plausible Lamar wanted this.

It's been pretty obvious all season that Lamar was not happy. The writing will be on the wall if he signs a contract pretty soon.

Well said.  I hate when I see good people lose out on things and Harbaugh is a good man.

I read that they met all day and Harbaugh refused to fire Monken. In essence Harbaugh had his mind made up too.

Saw somewhere Monken was a sticking point for the organization, which is interesting as it seemed before like he was the guy Harbaugh was willing to jettison.

Interesting. I was wrong about that, figured he'd be fine with Monken going.

A key pressure point in the John Harbaugh dismissal, according to those familiar with today’s discussions, was his refusal to entertain any conversations about potentially moving on from offensive coordinator Todd Monken.

Not needed, and it won’t be coming. The new coach will announce his DC when he hires one.

I'm not mad about it, but still shocked.  I'm curious to see who signs him. I suspect he won't be unemployed very long.

I’m not sure how Monken was the “catalyst” so to speak and not Orr

Get the feeling Orr has a lot of allies in the organization, besides just Harbaugh. Don’t think that’s an issue going forward though. The next coach will pick his own staff.

So, was Lamar pushing for the change and they backed him ahead of Harbaugh?

Truly mind blowing to me that Monken was even a sticking point for Bisciotti.  "Bullet proof" Orr never got any criticism right to the bitter end.  Amazing.

Oh yeah, I’m not remotely worried about Orr either Harbaugh gone. Just surprised the org was more focused on Monken and the offense and not the defensive issues this season.

Keep Monken. Show everyone else the exit. I never got the impression that Harbaugh and Monken were boys, anyways.

Nahh he can go too. I've seen one too many games of him giving up on the run when we consistently have the top rushing attack in the league.
